"I'm gonna take off," I whisper, pressing my lips to Matteo's cheek. He blinks, coming back to consciousness and looks at the clock with the dim light of dawn coming in through the large windows.

"It's seven AM."

"I got an email from Abigail. I'm going to speak to her today."

He moves to get up but I shake my head. "No, it's okay. Sleep. I'll call you later."

He stares at me, pressing his lips together. "Are we okay?"

I nod, running my hand over his hair, pushing it back. "Yeah, we're good."

"I could make sure you're okay before you leave," he croons, smirking softly. Oh god, he's hot sleepy. I shake my head, biting my lip.

"No, I have to get there soon and I still have to shower and change."

"Shower here."

"Nice try. My clothes are at home."

"Ah, well maybe you should have some stuff here."

"Stuff? You mean, leave things here?"

"Yes."

"That's pretty domestic of you," I murmur sweetly, leaning forward to kiss him chastely. He smiles, nodding.

"I'm getting there."

"I'm going to mark my territory then."

"Mark away," he whispers, clasping my face.

"Hey," I breathe, walking up to Veronica's desk, nervous as hell. She stands, leaning forward conspiringly.

"It's looking good. She's having a good day."

"Oh, thank god. Hopefully I'm not getting sacked then."

"What did her email say?"

"That she wanted to see me today. That's it really."

"Here's hoping. I don't know how I feel working here without you," she mutters, smirking. "How's lover-boy?"

"He's fine. Asked me to bring some stuff to his place this morning..."

She stares at me, eyes wide. "You'll be married in a month... I swear."

"Oh, stop. We won't."

"Yeah, yeah," she says, rolling her eyes. "He is pretty dreamy though. Imagine how perfect your kids would be."

I smile wide in shock. "Okay, you can stop now. I'm leaving this conversation."

I hear her laughing as I walk down the familiar hall towards Abigail's office.

"Hey Emma, are you back?" Michael asks, popping up from his desk. I shrug.

"I'm about to find out."

"I'm crossing my fingers now."

"Thanks," I whisper, turning the corner. Abigail is standing, looking down at sheets. She sees me coming and- smiles. I almost stop in my tracks.

Okay, so maybe this is going to be a good conversation.

"Close the door, Emma."

I step in and shut it immediately behind me, biting my lip nervously. "Thank you for seeing me, Abigail."

"You know I didn't want to let you go but I've talked some things over with corporate and we're willing to work with you."

"Work with me?" I ask, smiling in confusion.
