I had our first date planned. Of course, it was the usual dinner movies thing. But, I decided against the movies. I'll probably take her to the beach afterwards. I looked in the mirror. I've never really cared much about my appearance on a date before. I guess I really do have feelings for her. I fixed my hair a little then grabbed the car keys. "Mom! Dad! I'm leaving!" I said. "Okay. See you when you get home." Mom said from the kitchen.
Pulling up in front of Jennifer's house, I took a breath. I'd have to meet her dad. I walked up to the door and knocked. When the door opened, I felt my mouth go dry all over again. She looked stunning. Her brown hair was curled. She had natural-looking makeup on. She was wearing a strapless black dress that came down to her knees and black high heels. Damn. "Richie." She said. "O-oh. Sorry. You look ... amazing." I said. Beyond amazing. "You don't look too bad yourself." She teased with a smirk.
"Ready to go?" I asked. "Yeah. My dad's not home, so you don't have to worry about him. We can just go." She said. Thank God. "All right. Let's go." I said, offering her my arm. She smiled and linked her arm in mine. Like I was taught to, I opened the passenger side door for her. "Why, thank you." She smiled, ducking into the car. "No problem." I said, shutting the door. The drive there was great. We had the radio on full blast, singing along to some Aerosmith.
Once we got to the restaurant, I pulled her chair out for her. "Thank you." She smiled. "You're welcome." I smiled. "You okay? Your hands are shaking." She said, taking one of my hands. "You're honestly the first girl I've taken on a date that I actually like. I know. Sounds ridiculous." I said, blushing a little. "No. I actually think it's really sweet." She smiled. I smiled out of relief. So she doesn't think I'm an idiot. Good.
After dinner, we ended up going back to her house. "You can come in if you want. My dad's on a business trip and my mom won't be home until tomorrow." She said. "Are you sure?" I asked. "Positive." She said. I walked in with her. She invited me to sit with her on the couch. She kicked off her heels and cuddled with me. I smiled and wrapped my arm around her. "Richie?" She said. "Yeah?" I asked as she looked up at me. "I love you." She said. I felt my face grow hot. "I love you too." I smiled. I fell asleep at her place that night on the couch.
