The Reject (A Thorin Oakenshield Fanfic)

"What?!"

"Thorin, I'm not coming back, and if I do, it will only be in a casket."

"I won't let you die!"

"Thorin, there is nothing you can do to stop it. It's I die or Dis dies. Those are the only two choices. I only have one person who cares for me, Dis has you, Fili, and Kili."

"You could stay here!"

"Don't forget, Dis will want to come too!"

"Then she can stay too! I won't lose you!"

"Pick the other girl! I told you that already! If we don't go, the orcs will break the line and we all die."

"Fine, have your way. You make the decision."

"Thorin, I don't want you to be mad at me."

"And I don't want you to die!"

"It's either me, who doesn't love you back, your sister who would do anything for you, or everyone in Erebor!"

That conversation was two days ago.

We were now with the rest of the army and the enemy had just come into sight.

I jumped as someone came up behind me and slipped his arms around my waist.

"Thorin. You startled me."

"I hope I can keep you both from dying. "

"You can't.  No one can."

"I know, but it's worth a shot."

"Thorin, don't.  Pick the other girl, don't worry about me. I'll be reunited with my parents. Think of it that way!"

"Fine."

The war started, and it was like all hell broke loose.

We were destroying the orcs.

Suddenly, there was a pain in my side, but I kept fighting.

Then the pain was in my leg, but I couldn't give up yet. 

There was an arrow headed straight for Thorin,  and I took it straight to the shoulder.

A minute later, the last of the orcs was beheaded.

Thorin rushed over to me, and cupped my face in his hands.

"Flair, just remember, I love you." he whispered.

"I know Thorin. Just keep in mind, you are the best friend I ever had."

He leaned down and kissed me, just as the world faded away....
