Proof of Your Love

Chapter 5

*Joey POV*
I wake up at 8 in the morning and I hear a noise downstairs. I go downstairs and I see the guys watching tv and Spencer in the kitchen.
"What the heck" I say
"Sorry joe. That's Spencer's fault. He keeps dropping silverware" Chad says
"What are you guys doing here anyways" I ask
"Didn't want to go to the office but you still had to tell us about the doctors appointment so we came here" Caleb say something
"Alright let me go get dressed and I'll be right back down. Spencer put yourself to good use and make us all breakfast" I say
"Ok" he says
I go upstairs and get dressed. I walk into the bathroom and take my medicine then go back downstairs.
"Breakfast is served" Spencer says
We go to the kitchen and sit down. Caleb prays then we start eating.
"How are you feeling today" Chad asks
"Pretty good so far. Let's see how I feel an hour after I eat" I say
"Is that how long it usually take for you to get sick after you eat" Spencer asks
"Usually. Sometimes quicker sometimes longer" I say
We finish eating and go to the living room. I turn the tv off and sit down on the couch. The other three sit down as well.
"Hey Joey do you want us to FaceTime with Alan so he can hear to" Chad asks
"Sure" I say
Caleb takes his phone out and rings him up.
"Hey Caleb" Alan says
"Hey big al. Joey's telling us about how his doctors appointment went" Caleb says
"Ok" Alan says
"So Jewel took me to see her friend yesterday who is a doctor. I explained to her what was going on and she ran a few tests. Apparently she looked at stuff other doctors probably wouldn't. What the thing is though is that when I thought I had the virus which I did they were treating that but not the other stuff. I also have lymes disease. So that got worse and made me even more sick. And to top it all off I also have cancer but it is still small" I say
"Wow so how is she able to treat it" Chad asks
"Well only one can be treated at a time. In treating lymes first because I just have to take two different antibiotics. One at night and one in the morning. That will take a few weeks to a few months. Once that is mostly all cured we'll start treating the cancer but I'm not sure how" I say
"Wow" Caleb says
"How about we pray" Alan says
"Alan's always spiritual" I say
"Bro come on" Alan says
"Guacamole!!" Caleb yells
"Nick Barre" Chad screams
"I feel like I'm missing something" Spencer says
"Don't worry bout it" Chad says
"About" Caleb grumbles
"Guys" Alan warns
"Sorry" Chad says
Alan shakes his head and starts praying.
"Dear Lord we thank you for help us finding out what was up with Joey. We pray that his healing is quick with no problems. Help him to remain faithful in you and help us guys to support him when times get tough. In your name we pray amen" Alan says
We echo his amen and end the call. As soon as the call ends I start feeling sick I get up and run to the bathroom. I empty my stomach from breakfast this morning. I rinse out my mouth then brush my teeth. I go back to the living room and the guys are looking at me.
"You ok" Chad asks
"Yeah. I knew it was gonna happen. I either get sick when I wake up or after breakfast and I'm sick for a few hours but by the afternoon all I have is a headache. Usually" I say
"Ok. Well Joel and Luke wanted to know if we wanted to join them for lunch. I said yes. You up to coming." Chad asks
"Sure I'll come I just might not eat anything" I say
"Alright well we aren't meeting with them until noon so what shall we do" Chad asks
"I've got an idea" Spencer says
"No" I say
"Come on Joey you don't even know what I was going to say" Spencer whines
"Too bad. I know it's already a bad idea" I say
At that moment my phone starts ringing I look at it and see it's a FaceTime from my brother Donny Chad looks over my shoulder. I look up at him and he just smiles and nods. I go upstairs and answer the request.
J-hey Donny and Kenny
D-hey baby bro
K-hey bro
J-what's up
D-we just wanted to know how you were doing
J-I'm okay. I went to another doctors appointment yesterday.
K-how did it go
J-they found what was wrong
K-what is it
J-lymes disease and cancer
D-wow
K-how are the  other guys
J-they're good. Alan left which you knew. We got Spencer. He has a girlfriend now. Caleb and Kelsey have a son named Emmett
K-ok
D-well we gotta go bro but I think we are planning to come for your birthday next month
J-ok bye
I hang up and go back downstairs. The guys are still watching tv. 
"Well we better head to lunch" Chad says
"When is our next concert" I ask
"Not sure" Caleb says
We go outside.
"Can we walk" I ask
"It's too far" Chad says
"Fine" I say
We get in Chad's car and he starts the car. He drives for about ten minutes and we get to Cracker Barrel. We go inside and spot Luke and Joel. We go over and greet them then sit down.
"So how was you're concert last night" Joel asks
"It was good. Joey wasn't feeling well so he didn't perform but he sat with the fans" Spencer says
"They tried pointing me out but it didn't work" I say
"It doesn't work because you didn't want to be found" Chad says
"Chadwick it should be didn't not doesn't" Caleb says
"Alright how about we pray then go get food" Luke says
We let Joel pray then my bandmates go for food.
"I went to the doctors yesterday and they found out what was wrong with me" I say
"Did you let Jewel know? She really does care about you" Joel says
"I know. She was actually the one who got me to go. She needed someone to talk to the other day so I hung out with her. Then I decided to tell her how I was sick so I went over for dinner. She didn't want me walking home so I slept in a guess room. I woke up not feeling well yesterday and so she took off work to take care of me. She had a friend who's a doctor and finally convinced me to go and her friend figured out what was wrong." I say
"Well what did her friend find out" Luke has
"I have lymes disease and Cancer. They treated the virus I had when I was 16 and 17 but they didn't see the cancer and lymes that was there as well." I say
"Wow. Ok. We should probably go get food" Joel says
"I'm not hungry" I say
"Come on joe you should eat a little something. At least some fruit or a salad" Luke says
"Fine" I sigh
We get up and walk over to the buffet. We grab plates and I get some fruit salad. I go back to the table and my band mates are back.
"I told them" I say
"Ok." They say
Luke and Joel come back and we eat and talk.
"So Joey what's going on between you and Jewel" Joel asks
"Nothing. We're just friends" I say
"You sure. Because I'm pretty sure I remember you telling me how you thought she was beautiful" Luke says
"I don't know. She said I remind her of the kidnapper. What if one day she has a flashback and sees me and freaks out" I ask
"You'll never know unless you try" Caleb says
"Oh yeah Joey I have something for you" Luke says
He reaches into his sweatshirt pocket and takes out a piece of folded up paper.
"It's from Jude and somewhat Pheonix. They wanted to make you a picture." Luke says
"What about us" Spencer asks
"We all know Joey's his favorite" Caleb says
"Other than Joel" Chad mumbles
"I guess that's what happens when the first three letters of your name spell Joe" Joel says
"Wait Joel what's your middle name" Caleb asks
"David. Why" Joel asks
"Because you and Joey almost have the same initials" Chad says
"What do you mean? His last name is Patrick" Luke says
"No that's his middle name. His last name is stamper. He doesn't like going by his last name because it makes him remember his family so he goes by his middle name" Chad says
"Oh ok" Luke says
"Can we please stop talking about me" I ask
"Sure" Caleb says
"Alright so Why did you guys invite us to lunch" Spencer asks
"Well we're going on tour soon and we wanted to know if you guys wanted to be the opening band for us" Joel asks
"When does it start" I ask
"In a week" Luke says
"Chad I wouldn't be able to go. I'd have to go to the doctors and they might start treating my cancer then" I say
"Joe you could always fly to the doctors appointment then fly back to wherever we're performing at" Spencer says
"True. Is Moriah not performing" I ask
"Actually we talked with each other and she's gonna take a break from performing for a while" Joel says
"She's pregnant" Luke says
"We figured that out" Caleb says
"So will you guys join us" Luke asks
"Sure." Chad says
"Great. Joey when is your first doctors appointment" Joel asks
"Uh next week on Friday" I say
"Ok. We'll leave on Saturday then" Joel says
"Wait are we going to be home for my birthday" I ask
"When is it" Luke asks
"October 16." I say
They pull out their phones and look at them.
"We have a show in Colorado that day" Joel says
"Ok. I'll ask my brothers if they can come there. It is a lot closer then Tennessee." I say
We talk for a bit more then leave. Chad drops the other two off at the studio then goes to my house. I get out and he drives away. I realize there's a car in my driveway. I go to the driver seat and see Jewel sitting there. I knock on the glass and she turns towards me. She opens the door and smiles.
"What are you doing here" I ask
"I was bored when I got done with work." She says
"So you came here" I ask
"I figured you could sing for me a bit" she says
"Alright let's go inside" I say
She gets out and we go inside. She goes to the living room while I go upstairs. I grab my acoustic guitar and a could other instruments and go downstairs.
"Alright what song" I ask
"Fight forever" she says
I nod and start singing and playing. For about another hour or so I play and sing songs for her.
"Hey Jewel will you let me take you out tonight" I ask
"Are you asking me out on a date" she asks
"Yes" I say
"I'll go. I'll be back here in thirty minutes" she says
She leaves and I go upstairs. I change into something nicer then go downstairs. I pick up my book that I've been reading and continue reading it. A couple minutes later there's a knock at the door. I put the book down, grab my jacket and medicine and go to the door.
"Ready" I ask
"Yep" she says
We go out and get in the car.
"Where we going" she asks
"Chick-fil-A" I say
"Alright" she says
We get to Chick-fil-A and go inside. We order and once we get our food we go sit down. I pray and then we start eating. Once I'm done eating I take my medicine. She finishes and we throw our trash out. We go across the street to a park and start walking around.
"I really enjoy spending time with you" I say
"Me too" Jewel says
"Jewel ever since the concert when I fist saw you I thought you were beautiful and then I got to know you and I started liking you even more. Will you be my girlfriend" I ask
"Joey I c-can't. I'm sorry" she says
"No it's fine" I say
"I should go. You want a ride" she asks "no. I'll walk home I'll be fine" I say
She leaves and I continue walking through the park. I end up walking to Chad's house and I just sit in his front porch at some point I fall asleep because I end up waking up the next day to sunlight. I'm about to get up and leave when the door opens.
"Joey what are doing on my front porch" Chad asks
"I might've slept there" I say
"Why" he asks
"I asked Jewel to be my girlfriend last night. She wanted to say yes but she said no." I say
"How do you know she wanted to say yes" Chad asks
"I could see it in her eyes. Now I'm going home. I'll see you later" I say
"Don't do anything stupid Joseph" he yells
"Ok" I mumble
I start walking and when I get home I open the door and go in. I go to the living room and lay in the couch with the to on. Shortly after I fall asleep.
