Aquila

Months had gone by since the trienniums camping trip. In that time I’ve grown semblably to an assassin. The senility of grandpa and my dad portend the death of grandma. Her funeral was mainly in Italian so dad would translate to us what was being said. I continued to be a prentice to Achilles. However due to the passing of grandma I have spent more time enjoying life with my dad and grandpa. Little contracts would appear from time to time which one of us would handle. One day I was coming back from a contract and was unpacking my gear in my room. I live above the deli which is more serene compared to the restaurant. Grandpa, dad, and Achilles were at the front door when I returned downstairs.

“Good you’re in your casual, we got things to do boy come along.” Achilles greeted.

“I know your birthday is a few months away but we got ya a present and you need to open it now.” Dad said as we began our walk down the street.

“You’re giving me your robes?” I asked.

The men busted into laughter, I chuckled slightly along with them. I had grown more seriocomically over the months. Yet I would love and cherish my dad’s attire almost as much as I cherish him.

“Thirty Euros son, thirty.” Dad eventually answered.

As we arrived at the docks I seen almost everyone was there waiting for us. Amongst our family and fellow assassins I spot a man I had seen hanging around Achilles manor. I walked up to my peers. Lately I had spent little time with any of them.

“Hey windrider.” [Name] greeted.

“It is good to see you all.” I smiled to them.

“You missed me?” Edward squealed before he tackled me.

Even with all our gained experience we decided to fight like young boys bickering over a ball. I would get on top and attempt to land a few wild punches which he would pathetically block. Afterward he would get on top and do the same which I would effortlessly block as well. It went on until I got a gut shot in and he chuckled hoarsely as he flagged his index finger at me.

“Will you ever grow up?” Aveline sighed.

“These are ye’re cap’ns?” The unfamiliar man asked in disbelief.

“Their more capable than they seem.” Achilles reassured.

We followed the man towards some boats. I had never seen a boat like this one before. I really liked how this one boat looked it seemed almost indomitable.

“Boats?” I ask.

“She’s a ship! Her name is the Aquila and she’s the Ghost of the North seas. Next to her is the Jackdaw who is equally supreme. Connor captain’s the Aquila and Edward runs the Jackdaw.” He informs with a grin.

“R-really Mr. ugh-”

“Robert Faulkner.”

I looked at the ship named Aquila once more. I agree with him on one thing this ship is something special. Edward and I exchange glances as we take in our birthday presents. I have never driven a ship before and hardly get a chance to drive the car. I look back at Achilles who gives me an encouraging smile. Dad gives me a slap on the back as grandpa nods. Achilles, Robert, Aveline, and some others join Edward on the Jackdaw. The rest accompany me upon the glorious Aquila. Grandpa leads me downstairs to what I suspect is where the crew would stay. He opens a strongbox holding a uniform that must belong to its captain. Oh right that’s me.
