Video game

My eyes open. I'm in a field. It's familiar. It's the field behind my street that Markl and I used to play in. Is this a dream? Dreams are movies that play in your head; thoughts flashing as you're sleeping. But I'm me. Myself. I can control it. This is not a film. It's a video game and I can do anything I want to. I think. Out of nowhere, mum appears, walking through the long grass.
"Mum! Mother, I'm here!" I call, my hands waving frantically as I make my way towards her. Her head jerks towards me and her face lightens up with a beautiful smile. I haven't seen her smile for as long as I can remember.
"Isla, honey! How are you!?" She shouts loudly, as I'm still far from her. She says it so casually, like my life is made up of running through sun kissed fields. Finally, I reach her and hug her so tight so that all the hugs I missed out on during all the years I spent locked away were put into one big squeeze.
"Better than ever," I reply, late,"I missed you mum!"
"Missed me? You only just left the house half an hour ago! What are you on about?" She giggled. Perhaps in this dream, everything is better.
"Ha well it felt like forever".
