The Order of the Phoenix walked into the hall. A meeting had just concluded as Lauren bounded up to the members. She set her jaw as she approached.

"I want to join the Order." she said confidently. Instantaneously, the members responded.

"No,"

"Why not?" Lauren questioned. She had wanted to join the Order for years, and now with You-Know-Who back, surely they would need her.

"You're too young." Mad-eye offered.

"Absolutely not," Sirius said. "Mad-eye's right. You are far too young. Letting you join now, we might as well be putting a 'Please kill me' sign on your back." Lauren crossed her arms.

"It would not! And I am not too young." she protested.

"You're only fourteen, Lauren." Remus sighed. "If we let you join, then we might as well put a sign-up sheet in the Hogwarts dormitories." Lauren thought for a moment. Well, she thought. Blackmail it is

"Well, if you think about it, it's actually more dangerous if you don't make me a member."

"And why is that?"Tonks said, genuinely curious.

"Because isn't it dangerous to have someone who is not a member know your secrets?" Lauren asked. The members stopped and thought for a second.

"Kreacher knows our secrets and he isn't a member, and besides, what secrets do you even know?"Sirius tried.

"Well, Kreacher is unwillingly bound to the Black family for life and I'm not."Lauren retorted. "And I know plenty of secrets."

"Like what?"Remus questioned.

"I know about Snape and Harry's mother. I know about my mother's death, which is something the rest of you can only guess at. I know about Harry." Lauren said. At her last remark, Dumbledore whirled around and stared at her.

"You can't possibly know about Harry," he said in disbelief.

"Oh, but I do." Lauren said slyly. "And the diary he destroyed in his second year was one too, wasn't it?"

"What about Harry? what are you talking about?" Sirius asked.

"Nothing you need to worry about, Sirius." Dumbledore insisted. "But I think Lauren needs to join the Order. She's right; she knows too much." The other members grumbled.

"But..." Sirius started. He scowled. "Fine. You can join and attend meetings, but no missions. Alright? I'm not letting you into a situation where you could be killed." Lauren's face brightened.

"Understood."

"And perhaps it would be best if we trained her in some more advanced ways of keeping our secrets safe." Dumbledore added. "I believe Snape can teach you some."

"What! Snivellus-I mean Snape?! No way. Noooo way." Sirius protested.

"Oh, it'll be fine Sirius. You can stay with me if you really want."Lauren suggested.

"Fine." Sirius said grudgingly.

Later.....

"Today I will be teaching you the art of Occlumency." Snape said. "I will attempt to penetrate your mind and you will attempt to resist. Now, prepare yourself." Sirius stiffened at Snape's words but Lauren remained motion-less in her chair. She was ready.

"Legilimens" Snape said, with his wand pointed at Lauren. Nothing happened. Snape tried again. Nothing. After four more tries Snape let out a cry of frustration. "How are you doing that?" he insisted.

"Doing what?"Sirius asked.

"Resisting," Lauren supplied. "I'm just naturally great at shielding my thoughts."she told Snape. "You can't read my mind. And you never will."
