Chapter 14
Barely morning and Jieun already exhausted by thinking of the schedule ahead. Long etiquette classes with Ms. Kim, the boring business lesson with the poor Mr. Lee, who seemed to age fatally for every lesson. It was hard being a girl when she only needed to master embroidery, but now she has to learn all those things just because she got engaged with a high-class jerk.
Jieun has never been fond of the idea of marrying someone she didn't love, not to mention engagement with a jerk. She doesn't know how Jeongso knew so many things about the real Ha Jinah, when he obviously didn't like her at all, but he somehow did. As if he had someone looking at her background or tailing every moment. Well, wasn't it for Jeongso Jieun wouldn't even know the name of the real owner of this body, so something good did come out of it.
Jeongso knew the real Ha Jinah had tons of debt, that her mother was living far away but life depended on the monthly fee she sent. Maybe that was the critical thing. That Jieun didn't want her mother to be disappointed and sad cause her daughter was a foolish girl who trusted people too easily. Jeongso wanted Jieun to cooperate in fooling his grandparents until he gets some kind of high position in the company, under the condition that he would pay off my debts and keep it a secret from Jinah's real mother, so for now, Jieun agreed. But slowly, she was starting to regret it...
"Miss it's time for class" a maid came to inform Jieun.
"Coming~" she sighed.
.
.
"Oh, lord..." The music teacher heaved as he shook his head in despair.
Jieun peeked up seeing him exchange furrowed eyes with the butler, Mr. Lee, as she miraculously sprung the thick string of the gigantic instrument. Jieun pulled the string as she would pull the arrow of the bow but then it just broke. This was some kind of fragile expensive trash.
"I don't think she has a talent for playing the cello" the teacher whispered to Mr. Lee.
"I don't think she has talent in playing any instrument at all" Mr. Lee replied.
"Should I go outside so you could talk more openly?" Jieun suggested making them fake coughing while avoiding my eyes. She had known them for weeks now and knew they wouldn't feel offended by the little remark.
But they might be right. Jieun couldn't play the whitewashing board with small black blocks in between the white. Nor the gigantic string instrument with strings longer than my hair. Harp was it what they called it?
"Triangle?" Mr. Lee said desperately while looking at the teacher with pleading eyes.
"Let it be plan c" the other wrinkled his pan.
"We have a plan b?"
"Excuse me, I'm still here" She noted as they once again talked like she wasn't present.
"Sorry Miss Jinah, it's just, we're running out of time." Mr. Lee exhaled.
Jieun realized that the days really flew away. It's already close to the chairman's 80 years celebration and because Ha Jinah was a girl with no high education and couldn't afford any expensive gifts stoneface, aka Hwang Jeongso, made her offer some talent performance as a present. Well, it is the thought that matters and not the price.
"Still no progress?"
Jieun's lips were a line when she noticed how the two men turned nervous. Someone was approaching but she wasn't in a rush to meet that person's eyes.
Talking about the devil, Jieun pouted at the thought. Maybe she was punished for thinking bad about him, why else would he show up just like a ghost?
