Chapter 17
A/N: One of the deleted scenes which I turned into a real chapter ^^
After the incident of the party, Jieun was grounded for going anywhere without Jeongso's permission. What she did at the party made him lose face, which wasn't easily forgiven. The fact that she was his fiancé remained a secret for the public, the only reason he took her to those gathering was that his grandfather insisted that they should get to spend some time together, learning a bit about each, not to let her speak up against him.
Spending days inside the mansion was suffocating, but now there was a little room to breathe. Jeongso finally went on a business trip, Jieun took the chance to make her escape. Not an actual escape. Like she had a place to escape to anyway, the furthest she know was to the nearest convenience store...
She just wanted to take a walk. Get some fresh air outside the confined place. She didn't know that someone just arrived at the mansion and saw her climb over the wall.
Jieun walked down the streets, arm crossed above her chest to prevent the wind from stealing the little warmth from her body. Here was no smell of flowers or trees as in Goryeo, no stars or moon to brighten up the dark sky, only the streetlamps were lighting her way.
She turned left at the crossway, walking through a narrowed alley, with no lights but she didn't notice it, as she was in her own thoughts, cursing at Jeongso for being an ass. After walking for a while she felt as if someone was following her. Even though it just was a feeling, she was too scared to look back.
Jieun walked faster, that was then she heard the following footsteps behind her speed up too and her horrible assumption was confirmed. She took bigger steps, her slow gasping became heavy panting and the sweat beaded down her forehead, transparent spots appeared on the big white shirt and became sticky to her back.
Her eyes strained wide as she spotted a figure appearing a few meters ahead. The smell of smoke rushed through her nose and she felt disgusted by the nasty odor.
Her head was full of loud-voiced horror screams, but still in that condition she overheard the husky grinning from the two the man in front of her and the one behind her. Her hair rose, she then realized she had been taking the wrong route. They approached her from both directions, she felt like the wall from the big buildings was shrinking and she became chained in the little space.
I'm so dead, she closed her eyes and begged the sincerest pray. The men cornered her, swallowing the distance, and came closer. Her leg gave in and the sound of her falling to the ground echoed in her head as a ringing bell of death. Her view was a blurred pitch from the tears that filled her eyes.
"AGRR!!!" A deep painful groan, followed by a loud sound of someone bumping into the hard wall with a painful moaning.
"Your son of B*TCH" The short man cursed in his thick voice while grabbing the unwelcomed guy and punched him against the wall. Someone fought the two men that tried to corner her. Though it was too dark, she couldn't see his face.
"Youngmaster!!" Another voice said. Jieun looked in the direction of the voice to see a man in black suit come running with a bunch of men behind him. All wearing suits. The two perverts discovered to their horror that the guy they attacked wasn't alone, and it didn't take long for them to decide what to do next.
"Unlucky shit!!" They hissed and both ran with full speed.
"Why didn't you wait till I got another punch?!" Jieun heard the voice of the guy that helped her. It was Jun.
Jun wiped away the blood at the corner of his lips and glared at the men in suit. The man in suit bowed in apology, so did the rest of the group of 4-5 men.
He approached Jieun and put a hand on her shoulder, he felt how hard she was trembling, but in shock, she wiped his hand away and pushed him back.
"Ya!! You should be thankful-" he cut himself off as he saw the red eyes and running nose.
"Why are you yelling at me!!!" She cried.
"No I just mean.." he sighed in disbelief that he actually wanted to explain anything. She was the one causing him problems.
"Where the hell is the bastard to let you wander around in the night?!?" His eyes were furious and his face turned red.
"Right here" Jeongso appeared and maneuvered himself through the crowd. The men in suits as well bowed at his appearance. Jeongso looked at Jun, while resting his hand in his pocket, showing no signs of real concern.
"Who do you think sent these men to save your ass?"
.
[Next day]
Jieun was called into grandmother's room, though she didn't know what it was about. She had this bad feeling that the grandmother found out that she snuck out yesterday and was going to scold her. Sitting across the table in grandma's room Jieun lifted her face.
"Have you been up all night?!?" Concern was written in the wrinkled face. To overcome the trauma of yesterday Jieun stayed up all night to watch funny videos, to get herself feeling better.
"Hehe" she smiled as a dead zombie, while the grandmother sighed.
Knock! Knock!
"Come in" the old woman replied. Jeongso bowed to his grandmother and forced himself to take a seat next to Jieun.
"How is it you look like?!" He hissed controlled seeing the sacked eyebags, she looked at the floor avoiding his eyes. She had enough of him scolding and yelling at her yesterday.
"I'm sure you're both curious why I called you to come," the old woman said to her rescue.
"Yes, Grandma" The young couple chorused, turning their eyes at her.
"Though I'm proud of both of you to obey the wish of your parents of you being together, I know affection isn't something that can be forced upon."
Holy jade emperor, Jieun chanted. Please say you want us to break the engagement!
Something seems wrong, Jeongso sat with his hands folded on his knee waiting for grandma to continue.
"So I've arranged a three days trip for both of you."
"WHAT?!?" They chorused in shock.
Jieun looked at him with pleading eyes to find a way to persuade his grandma to take back her words and he with a grumbling face was thinking of an excuse as well. Of course, he would rather die than travel with her.
"Thank you for the good intention grandmother, but I have a packed schedule ahead-"
"I already took care of that" Grandmother cut Jeongso off.
"GrandPA'S-BIRTH-D-AYYYY" Jieun stammered.
"Yes, grandfather's birthday! She has been preparing his gift for weeks and still needs practicing. I'm sure he is looking forward to it, " Jeongso backed her up. Sounded desperate and eager.
Nothing to look forward to, Jieun mentally replied.
"I'll take care of him too."
"But-"
"No buts! I've already made the plans, you two will be on a trip after having lunch." Grandma said determinedly.
Someone save me...
What's with her expression? Jeongso glared at Jieun.
