"Promise you'll stay "she said barely above a whisper her voice strained and hopeful ,"promise "he said in a voice so sincere she could almost believe it ,almost but she knew it wasn't true . She knew eventually he would leave and she would be left all alone again .but that was okay ,he was here and she would enjoy it while it lasted .letting her self gently smile she reached up to play with some of his low hanging curls that had fallen into his eyes ,his deep brown eyes staring at her with such an intensity clearly deep in thought ,she wanted to ask him what was wrong but refrained in hopes of not pushing him any farther than she already had .so she just lay her head in his lap closing her eyes and focusing on the steady sound of his breathing.fading off into her happy place.
