The summer air is warm , and smells slightly of salt water from the lake . The sun is high In  The sky,  it makes my skin feel hot to the touch . Jake is in the drivers seat of his car . I look at him and smile, he hasn't told us where we are going. All he said is make sure that I bring something warm just incase it gets cold . Some rap song is playing loudly through the cars sound system, I push my long hair out of my face so I can get a better look at him. His frame looks too big for the small seat as he leans back, the sun from the sun roof makes his fiery red hair look brighter than ever. His green eyes wonder over to me for a second and my heart skips it beat like it always does when he looks at me. As we turn onto the highway.  the wind rushes into the car and blows my then golden hair around my face . It smells like lavender and jake's cologne . I push it away and looks at the side mirror, all of a sudden Joanne and her boyfriend come into view. My mind works for a second and then I realize where we're going. " we're going to the bay aren't we?!?" . jake looks at me, his eyes light up and he smiles. The bay is a small opening by the lake where everyone goes to hang out and party. It's where me and jake first met. I look behind us and see Joanne standing up in her boyfriends convertible. I smile and unbuckle my seatbelt, knowing what she was doing. I climb up from my seat and wiggle through the sun roof. I throw my hands up and scream. Joanne screams back and we start to sing-scream no scrubs by TLC, that's that song that  was playing when I first saw Jake standing next to Dominick ( Joanne's boyfriend). It's a tradition of mine and Joanne's to do this . I laugh and crawl back into the car, my foot hits the radio and it switches . 'Closer' by the chainsmokers starts, Jake starts to sing along to the song . I smile as Light my cigarette, I look at jake as he points to me . I shake my head no and giggle. Then I look at him and start to loudly sing along, giggling as I do. We turn off on an exit and a dirt road comes into view. I flip my hair over my shoulder and crane my neck to see the bay, some people are already there. They're setting up for the party, the bar tent is already set up and I can see a few people already having drinks.

Later in the evening I'm watching the sun go down behind the mountains. The bank I'm sitting on is damp, but it feels good against my skin. I lean back and take a sip of my Palm Bay as I feel a soft breeze across my exposed arms. I lost jake a few hours ago and I can't find him anywhere.  I hear noise a few feet away by the water. I walk curiously over to where I hear the noise. A body-shaking sob instantly comes out of me as I see what is going on when I look over the bushes . Jake and another boy who's face I can't see. Jake's head snaps up, he's suddenly scrambling to get off of him. Jake starts toward me , a  shaky "no" comes from my mouth. His eyes lock with mine, he moves closer to me and I take a step backwards and turn to run. Before I can move my feet jake is in front of me. " Amber, don't go. Please.", his green eyes are pleading. I refuse to look at him as he grabs my arm "don't!". A sharp slapping sounds through the otherwise silent air as my hand connects with Jake's cheek, he jumps backwards, but is instantly in front of me again, blocking the exit. I look at him , " you don't get to have sex with someone else, and expect to not have any consequences!". I shove him and step around him.
End of flash back
My eyes are red and puffy from crying. My phone is nonstop dinging with messages from whoever. The ice on the lake is a deep pink from the early morning sun. I don't remember much of that night . I do remember finally seeing Jake again and the fight we had . My hand ghosts over my right cheek , that was the first and only time Jake hand gotten physical with me. I shake myself from the thought, I hang my head and look over the lake and ponder on nothing in particular. Until I hear a shuffling in the snow behind me . My head shoots up and a wave of anger and sadness crashes over me, the wind carries the sent of a heavy cologne. I turn to find green eyes staring at me, surprise in them . "Jake", I whisper out .
