A/N: There's still going to be one tiny epilogue chapter after this one but since this is technically the end I thought I'd get the sappy author's note out of the way now. Thank you so, SO much to everyone who has read this fic. When I first started writing IAL I never expected I would get so much support and I'm just amazed. Every vote, comment, and read means the WORLD to me, you're all so nice and I don't deserve it at all tbh. And now because of this story I've not only gained confidence as a writer but I've also made wonderful new friends. I'm so sad that it's coming to an end but I hope you'll all stick around to read anything else I might write in the future! Thank you again for all of your support <3

Mitch gasped into Scott's mouth the second their lips touched, his eyes going comically wide.

It took him quite a bit of time before he was able to respond to the kiss. He was way too shocked to even totally register what was going on, let alone actually reciprocate.

Thankfully he did reciprocate before it was too late, though – eyes now falling shut as he kissed back, gripping onto Scott's silver blazer helplessly.

CalTones' win at finals was the moment Mitch had been waiting for since the beginning of his Freshman year of college.

But this.

This was the moment Mitch had been waiting for since his Freshman year of high school.

And it didn't disappoint in the slightest.

It wasn't even comparable to lackluster kisses he had experienced with other boys. It was the total opposite.

This kiss felt fucking monumental, if Mitch did say so himself.

Just like how it had taken Mitch a moment to start kissing Scott back, it also took him a moment to get the memo when Scott finally began to pull away. He slowly let go of Scott when he realized, in a total daze as he blinked up at him.

"You kissed me."

Scott possibly looked almost as surprised as Mitch did. "Yeah."

"Oh," Mitch breathed out.

Mitch had imagined himself kissing Scott millions of times, and not once had he ever thought his reaction would just be 'oh.'

He always thought he'd reply with something witty if the moment ever came. He'd even had a few options prepared – like "fucking finally" perhaps, or "took you long enough."

But instead he was so overwhelmed that all he could say was 'oh.'

It was all he was given a chance to say, as well, because seconds later Jasmine was rushing over and taking them both by the arm. "Let's get our trophy!" she yelled over the applause, seeming totally unaware of the interaction that had just occurred between the two of them as she dragged them across the stage.

Despite this being such an important moment, Mitch found himself not paying any attention whatsoever as Lucas began giving an impromptu acceptance speech.

No surprise there. Mitch was pretty sure that even if Rihanna herself walked straight onto the stage, he would still only be able to think about the fact that Scott had just kissed him.

His mind was specifically plagued by one question: Why?

Mitch wasn't stupid. He knew how to recognize when someone was obviously interested in him, and typically having someone just straight up kiss you on the mouth was a very good indication of romantic feelings.

If this was any other guy, Mitch would be sure that the kiss definitely meant something.

But this wasn't just any guy. This was Scott.
