Never give them a reason to laugh or look down at you. Be brave, look like you're strong, and smile like you're the happiest person on earth.
When you do this, they would become angrier and more insecure at you then will it show that you won over the invisible trap they've put up for you. And they wouldn't know that they're already falling slowly to the trap that they've put up for you until it would be too late for them to escape.
When they have fallen to their own trap, show them kindness and help them get out. Show them that you're not like them, that you are the exact opposite of who they are.
