Taehyung (mermaid!au) [2/2]

Next day, the worst day ever - Monday - you couldn't focus at all. He was on your mind and you just couldn't stop thinking about him.

He was super mysterious. You never saw him before and you're sure you wouldn't forget his red hair. Also, the way he disappeared into the sea. He sure could hold his breath for long. And the thing you saw - something like a tail, intrigued you the most.

Somehow everything just looked like he came from a mermaid story. And yes, you did know how ridiculous it sounded, but growing up on your father's stories about fairies, angles, vampires, unicorns and mermaids you couldn't help but let your mind wonder.

Sure you settled on your mind only playing tricks on you in your sleepy state, but it didn't help with the mistery of him.

So, later that night, after checking your father was soundly asleep, you sneaked out. You weren't sure if he will even be there, but you will spend a sleepless night for all you care.

Trying extra harf not to make any sound you made your way. And this night full moon was still visible lightning your way. Making it to the rocks you needed to climb you heard a voice.

Beautiful, deep, husky voice singing the same melody, you sung the day before.

It's him. You thought. Well, you weren't sure, but you just had that felling, that it had to be him.

You didn't see the source of the voice, but it seemed as it was behind the rock you sat on yesterday and needed to climb now.

Super quietly you carefully steped on every rock. Getting on the big one you looked down.

There he was, his head leaned on the rock, chin almost touching the water, red hair sticking into his closed eyes while silently singing the all too familiar melody.

Hearing it, you automatically start singing. The small breeze lifts your hair and you close your eyes, your voice intertwineing with his.

It seemed perfect. That moment. Just the sound of your two voices, small waves hitting the shore, breeze and the smell of the see. Felling of security and safety washed over you.

But the song came to an end and everything quietened down.

You opened your eyes to see him leaned on the rock, somehow towering over you, who was lying on it.

"You came," you whispered unsure if he heard you. Still a bit dazed by the trance, you let yourself get lost in his eyes.

But the sudden splash made you snap out of it.

"Why are you swimming this late--" You started asking while looking where from the splash came from and instantly stopped when you saw where from.

You returned your faze on him, your eyes widen in disbelief. You saw a flash of panic in his eyes when you took a couple of steps back, getting on a bit smaller rock, your legs in the water. He dropped back in the water and for a second you thought he was gonna swim away, but he came before you.

"Y-y-you, you're-you're a-a mermaid."

Still disbelieving and a bit scared of the situation you started backing away.

"Wait!" He grabbed your foot making you yelp. "I mean no harm, really. Please don't tell anyone."

In some way, his voice soothed you down.

"B-but how?" You remembered all the stories your father told you. Did your father knew? That all those stories were real. Well, mermaid ones at least.

"You can breathe under water? A-and see? Like clearly?" You ask, excited.

He nodded.

"Uuuuuu.. And can you talk to fishes?" You continued.

He smiled nodding again and whistling. Seconds after two dolphins came.

"Oh my gosh!" You stared at them wide-eyed. "Can-can I pet them?" You asked him.

"Sure," he finally answered letting you hear his raspy voice. You smiled but he suddenly came closer, putting one hand beneath your legs and other on your back. He then lifted you up, somehow, you won't sure how when he didn't have legs to support his weight but he did, and plunked you down in the water.

"H-hey, Taehyung! I-I'm wet now." You started rubbing your shoulders. "And it's cold." You said, but was suddenly a tacked by the two dolphins. "Woah. Woah, there." You petted them and they made loud noises of satisfaction. "They are cute."

"I know," he said. "Uuuu, you could met the old turtle. He's really fun. And maybe the octopus--" He started pulling you down.

"Taehyung. Taehyung!"

"What."

"I can't breath underneath."

"Oh. I'm sorry, I forgot." He awkwardly let go of your hand.

The dolphin signaled to get in it's back, and you did, only for him to start swimming fastly.

"Woah." You thought you're gonna get away far too away from Taehyung, but he appeared on your side not having trouble keeping the distance.

"Hey, do you have some sort of underwater city?" You asked again.

"We do. Most of my friends are there. But I also have a small cave near here."

The dolphin changed the way back to the shore.

"I can't belive I met you." You told him while he helped you get out of the water.

"I'll see you tomorrow."

Next couple of day you barely got any sleep, hanging out with Taehyung every night.

You brought your swimming suit and he led you to his cave. It was a deep swim but he helped you and when you got there you saw something like a lake inside. You told him about your city and he told you his underwater stories. You also taught each other some songs and had fun with the dolphins.

But as the summer was nearer your father told you you were gonna spend holidays at your grandma's house, meaning not being able to see Taehyung the whole summer.

You didn't agree, but he made one condition - to pass literature with an A.

You told that to Taehyung the day before the final essay and needles to say you were both very said.

So when you saw you got an A for the fantasy essay - your being about mermaids, you couldn't help but to jump from joy.

Before even telling your dad you made your way to the beach. He somehow was always there, despite the time you came, but after waiting for 5 minutes you got woried.

"Taehyung!" You frantically yelled.

"Y/n!" Turning to see who is calling you, your eyes almost dropped from their sockets.

He was there. Standing (and waving at you). On pair of legs.

"Taehyung..." You ran to him and jumped in his embrace.

"Y/n~~" He sung hugging and spinning you around.

"But, how?"

"I'll always find a way to be with you."
