Anne was almost in tears. Even aged forty - something, she still could turn on the waterworks. Timothy was in a state of high excitement as they determinedly dragged him towards their bikes, almost choking him.
"Could it have been snakes, do you think?" Richard asked, indicating the dog.
"It could have been... but Mr Slither's caravan is at the other end of the line of caravans!" Julian said.
Anne said nothing, trying to control herself. George, although she'd never had admitted it, was a little shaken herself and her muscles were screaming from hauling a strong mongrel. Once Anne had enough oxygen in her lungs, she changed the subject.
Later, the telephone in their hotel room shrilled. Julian picked it up.
"You ordered a taxi, Mr Kirrin?" the hotel receptionist said.
  "I... don't believe so, no."
  There was a pause.
"The driver is adamant that you summoned one, Sir. Can you come down and sort it out please... all of you?"
Julian sighed and agreed. He locked up the room and, grumbling, he followed everyone down to reception. Bufflo was sitting there in full Uber-driver gear, fiddling with his lighter. He spoke:
"I think I owe you an apology, Sirs and Madam."
