Mercutio: kinsman to the prince. Friend of Romeo, light hearted and witty. However he is hot headed and irrational. He does reason with Romeo. He is very realistic but can be loyal and defensive. Finds love tiresome and sees love as a matter of sexual appetite. A bit full of himself.
Tybalt: Juliet's cousin. He's very vain, fashionable, supremely aware of courtesy and the lack of it. Aggressive, violent, and a huge sense of Pride which leads him to a stein hate. Impulsive and described as the "king of cats" and the "rat catcher"
Benvolio: Romeos cousin. He makes a genuine effort to defuse the violence in public places. Romeos parents asks him to go see Romeo when he is upset about Rosaline. Trustworthy his name means good will. Prince calls on him to tell the truth about the deaths. Mercutio accuses him of having a nasty temper in private.
Lord Capulet: pratriach. Tells Paris to woo Juliet first. So he does love her. Sensitive but hot headed. Tries to go with Juliets feelings until it no longer suits him after tybalts death. Hostile. Commanding, he is prudent and precise.
Lady Capulet: wants Juliet to get married. Forced to marry forced her husband. Powerless. Distant chord to the nurse for advice about Juliet, but they do not get along very well. Refuses to be nice to Juliet after she refuses to marry Paris.
Paris: kinsman of the prince, once it is agreed to marry Juliet he is presumptuous and acts like they are married. Dominant and narcissistic. However he is genuinely sad when she dies.
