This is something I feel like most people who read this will relate to.
There's this one girl at school who I really hate (I'm pretty sure I've talked about her, let's call her M). Before we blocked each other on basically every social media that we have (long story), she would always post about her depression. "X days clean!" "Need reasons to stay alive." "So depressed rn." "I started eating again and I gained 6 pounds!" She would also post pictures with her cuts clearly showing.
It made it all feel so fake. It pisses me off whenever I think about it. She's publicizing something that should be talked about privately. It sugarcoats everything ABOUT depression. Just posting things like that makes it all fake. I've gone through depression, self harm, and anorexia and so have my friends. I know how it really feels. There is no way in hell that I would EVER say something like that on social media. It's always so personal and intimate. You can't just shout it out to the whole world.
Sorry, this was sort of long. If you want to hear more about her comment and let me know. Thanks for reading, voting, and commenting!
