"That was brilliantly insane," he breathed as his eyes stared at me in wonder.
"No, I was brilliantly insane" I corrected him.
"Is that so?" He asked, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh yes, my royal husbandness, I believe we both know that."

The following hour had felt like an awfully long time. As soon as the bridal ceremony was complete, my parents had rushed me out of the gardens and into the carriage that waited to take us to the kingdom that I would be given away to. It didn't make much sense of why that specific phrase was used. I wasn't being given anywhere, I was simply gaining more land under my domain.
I was still going to rule my own kingdom, now I jut got to rule over another one, as soon as I got a certain someone out of the picture.
I was brought out my thoughts when we went over a bump in the road. The carriage I was in had been made to appear as if it was a normal civilian's carriage, but on the inside it was lavishly decorated. The roof and the seats had been lined with a gold silk, and jewels encrusted the borders of the windows. Simple white linen curtains hung against them though; to any outsider it would appear as simple as they come.
My parents sat on the adjoining seat in front of me, worry lines encrusting their faces. They knew how much I didn't want this marriage, but they also knew that it was my duty.
"How are you feeling, sweetheart?" My father asked as he laid his hand on mine. It was on the cut I had made earlier, but it had mostly healed, thanks to a special herbal mix Celia had given me while I was leaving.
There weren't many people I trusted, but Celia, and my parents were the only ones on that list. It was dangerous to trust people when you were in the family business of politics. It was even more dangerous if you were a woman, and a future monarch.
There was always a target on my back, I was never truly safe. But with great power came great responsibility. And serious death threats.
"I would say I was feeling great, excited even, but we all know that I don't want this marriage, and I don't want to lie on the day that is supposedly going to be the best day of my life." replied back, avoiding eye contact. I stared at the linen curtains instead, not bothering to care about what my father felt like.
"Sienna, we did what we had to do. The war had been going on for decades. This ended it. I'm sorry, but we had to sacrifice your happiness for the our kingdom. Here is a lesson of monarchy for you Sienna: you have to give up what you want for what is needed for your kingdom." Was my mother's reply.
"Don't you think I know that?" I asked the woman sitting in front of me, "everyday, every moment I am constantly looking up at even the slightest movement because I don't want to be dead. I am always wondering whether I should be a monarch like you or the monarch I want to be. I am constantly questioning every choice, every thing I say, because I don't want to anger anybody. I don't think you realize this mother but I care a lot more about this job than I let on, so please don't tell me what I have to do, I am probably already doing it."
