His eyes stared at me as I walked to where he stood. They were the worst, scrutinizing my every move, trying to find a crack in my armor.

He was a lot like his mother and from what I could see of his face, he had gotten her looks too. The way he held himself up radiated the arrogance his birthright had instilled in him, and the way his clothes were taut around his muscles showed the raw power he screamed. He had a strong jawline, one that looked like it could cut through bone, everything about him looked perfect. He looked like a king. The power hungry kind.

Everybody here looked slightly intimidated by Leo. I didn't know much about him but from what I could gather he seemed like a cold, ruthless man. Heartless.

He had power and he seemed like the type of person who would use it to bend people to his will. His cold, calculating eyes roamed my body, his eyes staying a moment to long on my collarbones, swallowing, before he looked away.

I suppressed a grin that threatened to make its way onto my face when I noticed what he had done. He was attracted to me. And that was going to work so well in my favor.

By now I had climbed up the wooden stairs of the dais where Leo and I stood along with the high priest. It was a different priest though, one that was a servant to Venus, the celestial being of marriage. Just like the others, he wore a blood red robe, although it made no sense why. We were getting married, not sacrificing anyone.

The priest spoke up as soon as reached the dais. "Today, we are here for the union of Prince Leo and Princess Sienna. After today, both children of magic will be bound to each other through there magic. They will know what the other is feeling, what the other might be thinking. They will be connected on a level beyond anything our minds can think off. They will be soulmates. Forever."

The last word hit hard, my heart beat increasing and the usual calm in my mind evaporating. I had known that getting married meant that I would be connected to Leo, but the fact that he would know all my secrets was something that had scared me for so long.

I had pushed the thought to the back of my mind, but now it resurfaced. I would be vulnerable. Completely vulnerable.

But then so would he. That thought gave me a tad bit of relief. I wasn't the only one scared of what this marriage would do to us.

"Tomorrow the effects of the bond will take place, and both Leo and Sienna will be one step closer to bing monarchs. To removing the masks they wear. This is not only a ceremony of two souls joining, but of two kingdoms coming together. In Ucrourinath, Leo will be above Sienna, as he is the heir to the throne. He will be King and she will be his Queen. In Kanethia, Sienna will be above Leo, she will be Queen and he will be her Prince Consort. But in the shared territory, neither one is above the other. They are equal."
