"What's any poem ever really about!?"- Constino, a poetOnce upon a moment not so long a time ago
Mother earth wove a story from unique paths of strangers
Destiny wrote a verse to be heard across the nations
Do you know how this ends? I wouldn't know, couldn't guess
Surely it's not a tale of when a boy meets a girl
Be you patient you will know just not this early
If you rush there's a danger of cutting short this parley
Why are you calling me now, my dear Ellesmere?
I don't know you yet not enough to have you near
This is a long journey with many steps we'll make it there
I was minding my business all worries were my own
As I sought my adventure, I was youthful not forlorn
I was aground on an island when along came Jane'Hello' I said to her and 'hello' she answered
I scarce was good with speech I was glad I bothered
She wondered if she knew me but it was not yet tomorrow
We were right within a maze with no clear path to follow
I wondered if we crossed paths in an earlier life I borrowed
If tomorrow had once been, by days it had been swallowed
Thus we faced our today, full of hope and full of wonder
Lay our adversities on the table all those to take asunder
Here I am Ellesmere, take my heart and read my soul
All I ask for in return is that you don't be a stranger anymore
Or even better yet, grant me this stranger's heart
I will know what to say if asked whom I fancy
I now know what to say because along came JaneWhere summer succeeds summer, it's warm & then it's warmer
It's where storms are calmer and where I want to be
I don't know how this ends, I don't want it to end
It's clearer from this side, the retrospective perspective
Paradise sang my name and I stared her in her eye balls
I was too naïve to tell that I was standing at heaven's door
There was no place any better, how would I rather be elsewhere?!
I can hear you dear friend, you can tell me your story
You have done me no wrong, you don't have to say you're sorry
Point me to your foes, you won't fight them alone
We are not yet there but we are surely much closer
I can hear you much clearer, keep talking Ellesmere
Our time is drawing closer maybe we'll speak then, JaneI know you're speaking but I don't quite understand you
I can't hear you, not clearly, let me read it off your lips
Please tell me where you're going if not, do not leave
This story has hardly started, it's too soon that we be parted
I put my ear to your heart but all I hear is the silence
Speak to me, Ellesmere, sound your voice of resilience
Sing your song, sing it loudly, so I'll hear you like before
It was only yesterday when I heard you so clearly
If you turned out to be gone, I'd miss you so dearly
On parallel paths, we walked together as friends
If they came along, I didn't see any fiends
Were those paths to diverge, banish the thought so repugnant
I had known few friends so true when along came JaneWas it June or December, I hardly can remember
When adventurous wandering led me into acquaintance of a stranger
But that was a long time ago when a friendship was born
With every letter and syllable, that friendship was grown
We knew what we had long before it was gone
But time can be cruel, every man is a witness
Did you ever need any help? If you cried I didn't hear you
Where have you gone, Ellesmere? I have known you, could miss you
Surely it is not the end of something so beautiful
Surely we shall spiral back to the start of our story
They say it's the energy, can't be made and can't be killed
But did it fade quick before we knew it?
I wasn't searching for a friend when along came JaneYou closed the door, it seems you left the window open
I can see you but can never get to get to pop in
You sealed your heart, it's all alright if you're coping
I am closed out, hope you'll pardon me for peeping
Say goodbye, Ellesmere, if it's truly how it ends
I have known you for a while, every second such a blessing
This is your song, an epistle that isn't ending
A letter I am writing but which I'm never sending
Sometimes if you can, see the world through your babe's eyes
You can try, you should know, but you'll never be alone
In a world not afraid to Judge, you have a friend
Yet you know that, don't you? I didn't have to tell you
We grew together with time, it seems we grew apart
Jane, when along you came then, I hoped it wouldn't come to thatFate snared, which was strange is now stranger
We reached out, almost made it, once friends now strangers
Fingers got burned, I guess it's silly trying to touch the stars
When a boy meets a girl, a story is wrote, a heart heals but it scars
What destiny wove unraveled, it wasn't meant to be
That sure isn't how it seemed, you're a flower I the bee
I'm letting go, Ellesmere but if you call I will answer
I'm good with rhymes not with songs, I was never good a dancer
If you listen you can hear it, a sincere song of my soul
You will never know its mysteries till you call
And thus I rest my case with this, a final verse
I have travelled to the point beyond which I won't pass
I have walked down this road hoping to find you again
I was minding my business, when along you came, Jane
Hello! So this is an epic poem. It's quite important because it's the 100th poem in this book and it represents the end of an era. This is going to be a 300 poem book but i'll be experimenting with sonnets over the next 100 poems. So, i guess you could say it's a start of an era too. Thanks for your time;)
