It was just a normal day for Mallie at work, she was standing in the ice cream house at the park, handing ice cream to people for 8 hours. But for now she only had half an hour left before she could go home and sleep. As the time slowly got down to ten minutes, Mollie decided to close down since no one was at the beach or so she thought. Just as she was about to close, a guy walked up to the ice cream shop and waited for her to get back inside and take the order.
"Hi, how can I help you?" Mollie asked as she waited for the guy to order some ice cream.
"Hello there, an bubblegum ice cream and-" He took a deep breath before saying the words he's been dying to say.
"A date perhaps?" He asked nicely to hope that she'd say yes. Since he's been to this ice cream shop for two weeks now and everytime he came, he came when she was about to close down.
Mollie was flattered by the words he said, that boy wanted to go on a date with her and she didn't even know his name but yet she said yes and then gave him his ice cream and number.
"Great!" Dave said "I was thinking we could go on a date right now actually?" He asked yet again nicely.
"Oh, yes sure" Mollie smiled and she closed down the shop and went with the mysterious boy to the end of the beach, which had two small sunbeds laying in the sand, perfectly to watch the sunset go down.
"Oh and I'm Dave, by the way. Never really told you my name did I?" He laughed as he sat down on one of the sunbeds, waiting for Mollie to sit down as well. Mollie sat down and laughed at the boy.
"No you didn't actually, and I'm Mollie" She said and took out her hand to give him a shake.
Even if she knew she saw him almost everyday since she started working, she never really thought about it until now ofcourse. He was waiting to be able to ask her out. It felt nice to have a guy look at her that way, but also kind of creepy.
"So, have you been waiting to ask me out?" Mollie asked and gave it a little laugh. Dave just nodded his head as his eyes were glued to the ocean at this moment.
"Well, it's nice to know and kind of creepy" Mollie said as she then began to look at the ocean as well, but then Dave quickly turned his head towards the girl next to him.
"Creepy? It's romantic" Dave defended himself as he grinned at the girl.
"Do you think it's romantic to watch someone and wait for two weeks before being able to ask someone out? It's kind of creepy to me since the only words you said to me was what kind of ice cream you wanted" Mollie laughed out loud and looked at the sweet boy.
Today was going to be a good day, a date with a nice guy and watching the sunset at the same time is a big bonus to Mollies summer.
"When you say it like that yes then it's kind of creepy.." Dave said as he realized she was right, he was more of a creep than being romantic.
"How about we ask each other questions, so we can get to know each other and hopefuly have another date?"Dave said and Mollie could see it in his eyes, he was begging for another date. All Mollie did was give him a smile and nod her head.
She didn't want to say to much cause then she'd fall inlove in just a few hours, which wasn't like Mollie. She usually wanted to go on a few dates before realizing that she was inlove. But now, it felt like she already was.
"Do you.. like food?" Dave asked, not really sure what to ask her even if he felt like he had so many questions in his head. But them disappeared as soon as he opened his mouth.
"Yes totally, love food. It's life." Mollie said and grinned at the boy as she tried to figure out a question back.
"Got any siblings?"
"Yes I do, I have a little sister, she's the sweetest and you?" Dave grinned and you could see that he truly love his little sister. To Mollie it seemed like they had a special bond.
"Aw that's cute, yeah I have two brothers, so are you starting college to the fall?"Mollie said and smiled when she thought of her siblings.
"That's nice, yeah I'm going to start college to the fall which is kind of excited but still terrifying." Dave said and looked around like he was in a horror movie, he was scared to start college cause he had to leave his little sister alone and he didn't want that since he was going to New York.
"Yeah me too actually and I feel the same. Scared but excited." Mollie told him and thought the same as he, it was going to be nice but scary and then when it came to her siblings, she didn't want to leave them either but she knew she'd see them often anyways.
"Oh really? Where are you going?" Dave asked hoping she'd say New York cause then they'd be close to each other and hopefully still talk to each other then.
"New Y- oh crap I got to go!" Mollie almost yelled when she looked at her phone to realize her dad would not like it if she was out for this long and she was which meant, not a happy dad at home.
"Wha- why?" Dave hurried himself up as Mollie was already speed walking to her bicycle.
"My dad wont be so happy that I'm out at this time, but we have to do it another time I promise. You have my number so guess we'll talk later" Mollie grinned and took the bicycle and hurried home.
Dave still stood by the beach and watched her hurry home. Then he put his fists up and yelled a big yes. It was a successful date, he got her number, got to know her and knowing that she was going to New York as well just made him relax. This could happen Dave thought.
Something could happen between them without too much distance.
