My feet dangle on the back of the couch as I stare at my tv screen upside down. The daily News showed Spider-Man trying to save hundreds of people on a boat, the floating way transportation literally splitting in half. Iron Man abruptly swoops in to help Spidey, using all his strength to put the boat back together. Then the lady reporter appears back on the screen, gossiping about more things in our crazy world.

The doorbell to my and my mother's apartment rings causing me to get up quickly from my current position. My bare feet padding against the wood floor, my heart pounding in my chest as I wondered who was knocking on my door at one in the morning.

Swinging the door open, I'm met with my best friend, Peter. He's usually the happy go caring type of boy around me, but now his eyes were filled with tears, his cheeks red along with his cute little nose.

"Pete, is everything okay?" I ask, my voice full of concern.

"Y/N, I-I.." More tears fall down making him pause from speaking.

I grab his wrist dragging him inside and closing the door behind us, then leading us over to couch. Sitting down, Peter instantly scoots over to me, his attention on the tv that was now turned on a low volume.

"Peter, what happened? Did you get hurt or something?" I question and wrap my arm over his shoulders.

He sniffles, "I lost the internship."

"What, how?" I gasp.

Peter lifts his head from me shoulder, still crying slightly. His arm comes up to his face wiping the rest of the tears that was on his cheeks. I couldn't stand seeing him like this, I am use to the normal Peter: shy and nerdy.

Instead of him answering, his body continues to shake as more tears are let out from his gorgeous brown eyes. Instead of me speaking up, my hand places itself on the side of his head, bring him down so he could lie down on my lap. My fingers twist the ends of his short brown hair, something he loves for me to do whenever he's feeling down in the dumps.

Sitting back in the chair, I grab the tv remote and change the channel, not really in the mood to watch the News anymore. Finally I land on a channel where they were airing replays of my favorite show, Fresh Prince of Bel-Air. Peter shifts his head in my lap to stare up at me, but I continue to look at the tv pretending as if he wasn't looking at me.

"Y/N?" Peter mumbles, but I managed to hear him through his groggy voice.

"Mhm?" I hum, my eyes moving down to him.

"I-I want to thank you," He begins. "For basically talking to me on your first day of school, to letting me show you around to all your classes, to becoming my best friend, and-" He stops, sitting up from my lap, his teeth gnawing at his bottom lip.

"Peter, what is it?" Worry fills up in my tone.

It all happens so fast- Peter's lips press against mine, and I respond within seconds. I would be lying if I didn't say that I hadn't found Peter extremely attractive when I first started at our high school. Out of all the other douche bags at that school, Peter stood out to me especially because he wasn't your typical dumb jock.

"I've been wanting to do that since day one." He whispers while our lips still ghost over each other's.

A giggle leaves my lips, "Well I'm glad you finally made a move because I was honestly too nervous."

"You liked me back?" His eyes are wide as he sends me a shocked expression.

"Of course, I wouldn't have kissed you back if I didn't. But to correct you- I actually love you." I inform. "Pete, you're different from all the other boys at our school and that is what makes me love you even more." I admit, both of my hands going up to his tear stained cheeks.

He gives me a chaste kiss, "I'd be lying if I say I didn't love you back."

Each of us let out breathy laughs before we lay back down on the couch, with me laying on top of him. His heart beat echos in my ear, sort of soothing my current mood. Peter's hand rubs up and down my back as he lets out slow steady breaths.

"Thanks for cheering me up, doll." He says after a moment of silence between the two of us.

"Anything for you, Pete."
