Chapter Forty-Four: The rainbow before the storm
I finally get the guys to leave as I'm left with the rest of the 'jade' group in our cabin.
"hi" Skye says appearing out of no where
"hi" I reply back as if nothing happened
"looks like we're cabin partners" he smiles sending chills down my spine and back up again
"where are the other two?" i ask changing the subject slightly
"H-here" rae says coming out of one of the rooms
"Hey" I smile thankful that she saved me from having to pretend that I don't know about what Skye did... If he actually did it. All I have to go on is the guy's word I didn't feel like they were lying to me but I've been wrong once before.
"w-would you l-like to be..." she starts fiddling with the hem of here shirt. "... room b-buddies?"
"of course, I would love to" I smile she has a look of relief flood through her as she stops fiddling and smiles
"oh I'm r-"
"Rachel but you prefer Rae I remember " I smile as she goes to introduce her self again
"you remembered" she smiles
"of course I would it's not every day you make a friend" I smile "well you can but that's not the point " I laugh
"I understand what you meant" she laughs
"Rae your laughing" a new voice says I turn to see a tall guy that I guessed was Carter.He wore a pair of dark blue jeans with a red and black stripped flannel. Rae stops laughing but keeps the smile on her face
"Hi" I smile out stretching my hand for him to shake "my name is a-"
"I know your name everyone in the school knows your name" he says not looking very happy
"oh s-sorry i didn't realize " I say letting my arm fall back to my side
"it's fine" he says in a way that clearly told me, it wasn't fine.
"we should be quick to put our bags away, don't know when the teacher will be back to collect us." Skye says changing the subject
"alright I guess I'm with you" Carter says to Skye referring to rooms. Skye nods and they disappear into one of the bedrooms. Rae and I do the same
"T-thank you" Rae says quietly
"What for?"
"For remembering me and for being room buddies with me"
"Of course I would remember you, and I think it was best if we slept in the same room because I don't really want to sleep in the same room as a guy... " specifically Skye, I don't trust him but I wouldn't tell Rae that the poor girl would be terrified
"yeah it seemed like the most logical solution" she says.
We unpack the the important stuff like soap, blankets, pillows, toothbrushes and any other supplies apart from our clothes. Rae and i's room was set out so there was a bed on either side of the room with two bedside tables separating us, with a wardrobe on Rae's side that was also a full length mirror and my side had the windows that showed a beautiful view of trees
"I can't wait to see the sun shine through the trees of a morning" I whisper to myself
"I know, it'll look beautiful" Rae comments appearing beside me as she to looks out of the window
