Chapter 23: Sprout Surprise

I was awoken by the sound of my two little brothers screaming Bloody Mary at 3am. Marzia told me I didn't have to attend to them at night but I just can't stand to hear them cry and pine for attention. I spun my feet out of bed and rubbed my eyes. A blurry vertical strip of light was peering out from the door. I got up, letting my eyes adjust to the light, before peaking past the door frame. Where was everyone?

I opened my door wider and crept into the living room. I swear I could hear Marzia laughing. There was nobody there so I checked their room and sure enough they were fast asleep whilst Jax and Xavier were screaming the house down. I didn't mind to much though, I like looking after my brothers. I can't wait to be a mummy when I'm older. I settle them down and hush them back to sleep, then place them in their assigned cots once again. Felix stirred, turning over and wrapping his arm around Marzia. I quickly left their room and closed the door after me.

I hopped back into bed and layed staring at the ceiling, daydreaming about being a mother. I also want to work in a cafe or a restaurant but possibly volunteer in an adoption centre. I want to adopt as many kids as I can when I grow up because I know how it feels to be left in that place, not knowing when you are going to leave or whether you actually will leave. Marzia and Felix donate to the adoption centre every 3 months so that's a start.

I might make them breakfast when everyone wakes up. I like cooking. It's like my own little therapy. Maybe tomorrow I should bake some cupcakes and take them down to the orphanage for my friends. I think they'd appreciate that. And I'll make a special one for Jess. I plan on writing to her every month just to keep her updated and she does worry a lot and I do miss her. I might make a horrible tasting one just for Katz, maybe I could put sprouts in there. I need to sleep. My mind is like a kaleidoscope of colours and shapes right now and I need to get up soon. I toss and turn, kick and splutter, fiddle and twitch but my mind won't shut up and I can't stop thinking. I'm too excited to see Katz gag at the taste of a chocolate sprout cake. Revenge is sweet... but in this case, sprouty as well.
