Allie was alone, sad, and confused. Why did her father turn into a man who neglected her? Why did he choose to hurt her? She may never know.
Allie was curled up in ball in the corner of the basement when the door suddenly opened. She lifted her head, and heard a few voices while a few people were shoved into the room.
"Where do you guys think we are?" A girl asked.
"I don't know," Two other girls said at the same time.
"I hope he doesn't do anything," The oldest girl said. Allie could see her clenching her fists in the dark room.
"Oh, he will, and you won't like it," Allie said to the older girl.
"Who are you?" The oldest said, looking around to see who it could be.
"I'm in the corner," Allie said.
All six newcomers focused on the small figure in the corner. The girl was curled up into a ball.
"I'm Allie Jade," She said, "I'm only six years old. I was really smart in school until I was thrown in here. I don't go to school anymore. My daddy isn't nice."
"Wait, the man who kidnapped us is your dad?" The oldest said, obviously surprised.
"Yeah. He wasn't nice before mommy left about three months ago, and now he is worse," Allie said.
"Oh wow—" One of the girls started, then was shortly interrupted.
"Shut up, you stupid kids! And Allie, stop telling them stuff and being such an *******!" The man said as he came into the dark, empty room.
He picked up Allie and took her out of the room. The six other girls saw a quick glimpse of Allie's light brown hair, freckles, and blue eyes. The door shut and Milo took his daughter into the hallway. He threw her across the room and she landed on her wrist, injuring it. About a minute later, Allie was thrown back into the room, crying.
"Allie what did he do to you?" the oldest asked.
"H-h-he threw m-me across t-the room!" Allie said, crawling towards her and sitting on her lap.
"Oh no! Are you hurt?" The oldest asked, going into her "babysitter mode".
"Yeah. M-my arm hurts really bad," Allie said, laying her head on the older girl's chest. Annie stroked her hair.
"Show me where," Annie said. Allie stretched out her right arm and pointed to her wrist. Even though it was pretty dark, Annie could see that Allie's wrist was pointing in a direction it shouldn't be able to.
"I tried to stop my fall with my hand but landed on it," She sobbed.
"Okay. Don't try to move it, and keep it still," Annie told her. "Hayley, do you still have your jacket?" She asked.
"Yeah. Here," Hayley said, handing it to Annie.
Annie tied a sling around Allie and carefully put her arm in it. She spread the arm-part out and made sure her wrist was supported.
"There. That should hold. I'll just make sure to untie it quickly if the guy comes in." Annie said to herself.
"What was your family like?" Allie asked the girls.
"Well, me and my little sister Hayley had a nice mommy and daddy and we had three dogs and a bunny. I do gymnastics and Hayley does dance," Annie said.
"That sounds nice. What about you?" Allie Jade asked, turning towards the foster kids.
"Uh, the four of us are sisters and we had a nice family too. All six of us are best friends," Charlie lied.
"That sounds cool. I never had friends. I only went to school for a few weeks but the other kids weren't nice to me," Allie said with a glum look on her face.
"We will be your friends," Annie said.
"Really?" Allie said hopefully.
"Yeah," Annie said, giving her a hug.
"What do friends do?" She asked.
"Uhh, you have a lot to learn," Annie said jokingly.
