Chapter9 - Zabuza

The executioners blade echoed through the forest as it imbedded itself in the tree. Not a word said as deathly silence landed on them all. Zabuzas eyes landed on Naruto but quickly looked away and focused on Kakashi instead.

Who would've known the assassin kept his word.

The tense atmosphere only succeeded in giving anticipation toward all that were present. Kakashi knew he had to handle this alone, just because Naruto was there didn't mean he needed help. Although this man in front of him was no easy target, he needed all the power he had to defeat this man. Naruto knew of Kakashis plan as soon as he reached for his head band and moved it up, revealing the sharingan.

"Kakashi of the sharingan eye, did I get that right? Also known as the copy cat ninja"

"Zabuza, demon of the mist" It took all of Narutos self control not to burst out laughing at that moment in time.

OMG THEY'RE INTRODUCING EACH OTHER LIKE A GAY COUPLE AT A COUPLES MEET AND GREET.

Mist began to cover the entire plan as Naruto shouted for his team mates to get in formation and to stay out of the fight no matter what.

"Who made you leader Baka" Sakura shouted back seemingly agitated about Narutos 'new' command, just as he was about to shout at her to shut the fuck up Kakashi shouted.

"Narutos right no matter what, do NOT break formation"

It was hard to see for everyone, silence as well as the steady and rapid breathing of all that were present was all that was heard, so quite you could hear a pin drop. Everyone was on high alert.

He's good, it's hard to sense him but not impossible. He's coming closer and Kakashi hasn't been able to pin point him yet. Naruto thought as he followed Zabuza chakra with his eyes. He knew what was coming but he processed it to late, Zabuza was already beside him, inside there formation.

Just as Kakashi located him, Zabuza was in the middle of the formation ready to end the bridge builders life, with a kunai ready to strike. Kakashi wouldn't be able to make it in time. Naruto had only one thing on his mind the mission. He couldn't block the attack from where he was nor could he push tazuna out of the way in time, so he did the only thing he could think of in such a short amount of time... he tackled the assassin. Naruto wrapped his arms around Zabuzas waist as he lunged at the six foot man with all his might.

Zabuza went down with Naruto, both hittting the floor. Zabuzas head hit the floor with a deafening crack while a kunai stuck upwards towards Narutos stomach, but he never felt the pain all he could feel was the cold metal pinching at his skin as it ripped through his stomach.

"Naruto!!" Sasuke yelled in fear as he saw all that happened with a front row seat, it didn't hurt but he was losing to much blood his vision was going blurry as his breathing slowed.

Agh, shit welp nothing I can do now.

Sasuke ran to Naruto and carefully pulled him away from the kunai, Naruto laid in his arms as his eyes slowly closing, Sasuke's widened, Zabuza was unconscious on the floor when Kakashi reached them, he was unfazed by Narutos condition making Sasuke angry beyond belief, from his point of view the boy he likes is dying in his arms. He was about to shout at Kakashi when a tracker ninja appeared. The ninja had a mask concealing his face as he spoke with what almost seemed like sincerity at the dark haired boy.

"Thank you for capturing Zabuza I've been on his trail for weeks... and im sorry for the death of your Conrad."

"HES NOT DEAD!!!" Silence, Sasuke was on the verge of a breaking down when the tracker nin left with Zabuza's body.

"Sasuke he's fine, he isn't dead" Kakashi knew that outburst from Sasuke was just him trying to convince Hines elf and no one else. He tried to comfort his student seeing this many times before. But that didn't succeed.

"How the hell do you know! T-There's so much blood." His voice trailed off as he remembered that night. Kakashi bent down and put his arm around Sasuke's shoulders.

"He won't die Sasuke you should know that more then any one, he's strong, now we need to get going before he actually does die" Sasuke nodded numbly as he picked Naruto up bridal style.

"We can go to my house it's not far from here"

"Thanks" it took about 7 minutes to get to tazunas house, as soon as they got there Sasuke didn't wait for the door to open and instead charged in, looking for a spare room and set Naruto down softly. He got back up again and charged around the house frantically looking for bandages before someone grabbed his arm stopping him in his tracks.

"Sasuke calm down, I'll take care of Naruto you go lay down"

"But"

"Sasuke, go, I have more medical experience then you"

"...Yeah ok..."

Kakashi went back into the room where Naruto was currently 'resting' in. He knew Naruto was awake and he knew the blonde had probably been awake for a few minutes.

"Naruto sit up I know you're awake, that was harsh you know letting Sasuke think you were dying" Naruto slowly sat up as he looked at Kakashi seriously, his eyes held the authority that came with an ANBU commander.

"And what do you suggest I should've done? Huh? Just let him see me get stabbed then walk away without a single cut, I'm not stupid Kakashi I'm not blowing my cover so easily" this little speech seemed to really irk Kakashi as he glared deadly at his ex-commander with defiance.

"This isn't a mission Naruto!! You can tell them any time about who you really are! No ones stopping you, but instead you decide to be selfish and have someone who cares about you so deeply believe you're dying in his arms!!!!" At this point Kakashi was fuming, when he calmed down from his rant he saw the pained expression that stared back at him in a shocked silence... then he spoke.

"He'll hate me" the blonde whispered as he looked down at his lap, his vision becoming blurry from the oncoming tears that threatened to spill. "...like everyone else, he'll be scared like everyone else"

"You really think so lowly of him? Then your more of a coward then I thought" after that Kakashi stood up and walked out not looking back as he closed the door softly leaving the blonde to dwell in his own self loathing.

"I'll tell, them... I'll tell him when we get back to the village...and if he hates me then at least I'll know he'll hate me for me instead of love me for a lie"

In the room next door a black haired boy was wishing for the safety and well being of his blonde.

I really can't live with out him

They both thought.
