The next morning, Peter woke up slightly and raked his arms over the bed, feeling nothing but comfy sheets. He jumped up and looked around. Sophia was nowhere to be found. Peter threw his bed sheets off of him and ran downstairs to find his mother and Sophia at the door.

"Peter, up so early?" Joselyn smiled at him and let out a small chuckle, gesturing towards the clock. Peter looked at the time, rubbing his eyelid. It read 5:30 AM.

"Sophia, why are you leaving?" he looked her up and down, and noticed she was wearing her clothes from the previous day. She tossed him his shirt.

"I have to get home to change, but thank you for taking me in, Joselyn." she smiled at Jo then turned to Peter, eyebrows raised. "Thanks for...everything." she shrugged and walked out the door. Joselyn walked up to Peter, her arms crossed.

"If I didn't know any better, I'd say you were lovestruck." she said sarcastically and laughed. "Go on back to bed. Or just stay down here, I'd wake you up in five minutes." she started towards the kitchen and pulled out the pan. "I'm making eggs. What kind you like?"

"Sunny side up." he groaned and literally fell onto the couch.

Looks like you need some sunshine, thought Joselyn as she cracked the eggs.

About twenty minutes later, Peter was looking at himself in the mirror, deciding on what to wear. He pulled on a grey shirt and sighed at himself. He quickly tugged it off and put on his auto shop grey sweatshirt, giving him his casual look. He ruffled his hair and smiled at himself.

"Pete, remember to give Sophis this." Joselyn opened his door and handed him Sophia's necklace with the diamond heart. "She left it, and it's fairly valuable." Joselyn walked out the door. Peter followed her downstairs and said goodbye to her. Grabbing his backpack, he exited through the door and hopped into his mother's car. He'd been using it since he couldn't afford a car on his own. He drove right to school.

"Nice ride." a boy laughed as Peter pulled into a parking space, being sarcastic. It was an old car and compared to all the new BMWs, it was completely ancient. Peter tried to ignore him as he got out and walked inside the building.

"Pete!" he turned to see Christina running towards him, a paper flinging from her hand.

"Hey, Chrissy." he hugged her from the side and she smiled, holding up the paper.

"Look at it! Look, look, look!" she giggled and jumped. Peter laughed, taking the paper from her. Christina Meade was a tall, bright girl with wavy dark brown hair and dark brown eyes. She had round cheek bones and had a secret crush on Peter, her best friend.

"This is great, Chrissy! I'm so proud of you!" he looked down at the paper again. "I knew you'd get the main part in our school play! I mean, all you ever want to do is act," she smiled wide. "...like an idiot." he smiled and she smacked him. "Hey, I'm just kidding."

"Well you're mean!" she sighed and took the paper back. "I better get going. But what'd you do last night?" Peter hesitated on telling her but eventually caved in.

"Just hung out with Sophia." he whispered to her, shoving his hands in his pockets and looking around, worrying if anyone heard. Christina raised her eyebrows,

"Please tell me you mean Sophia Costello..." she looked down at her feet. Peter walked closer to her and lifted up her chin and shook his head. "Whatever, bye." she stepped out of his grip and walked away. Peter walked down the other hallway and spotted Mr. Baker.

"Mr. Baker, Sophia left this at my house last night." Peter held the necklace out. Mr. Baker eyed him suspichiously.

"Exactly what was my daughter doing at your house?" he snapped at Peter. Peter raised his eyebrows and stuffed the necklace into his pocket.
