Recap:

"Sensei," he announced, "today is the Hero Exam."

With that, my story begins.

"Thank you very much, Rithvik," Mr.Tsuyoshi smiled and turned his attention back to us, "as you all know, the Hero Exam only applies to second-years. The Exam consists of one academic test and one physical test. The academic test will be the same for everyone but the physical test will be different depending on your abilities."

All the students stared intently as they waited for Mr.Tsyoshi to say anything else. All of a sudden, a woman about 30-years-old walked into the room and everyone averted their attention. She wore business attire and had wavy blond hair. Mr.Tsuyoshi glanced back at the class.

"Students," he started, "this is your examiner, Ann Kuruma."

"Nice to meet you all." she smiled.

"Thank you, Ann," Mr.Tsyoshi smiled, "I'll let her take it from here."

Ms.Kuruma turned to the students and slammed her hands on the table.

"I'll just get right to it," her voice turned cold and serious, "the Hero Exam will determine your future from here on out. The Hero Exam will put you into to a White Storm District no matter if you get a fail or pass. A fail is 50 points while an excellent is 80-120 points. There are 30 Districts in Japan and in 4000 in the whole world while the closest ones to us are the 13th, 14th, and 15th Districts. We, heroes, fight to protect our city from villains but only at a certain level, you will have the opportunity to fight them. When you enter a District, you will start off in the rank you are assigned according to the results of the Exam. The lowest rank is F while the highest rank for a new hero is A. I wish all students good luck and now you may start the academic test. You will have 3 hours to complete it."

After that announcement, we were all given a booklet that had the questions for the test. I whipped out a blue pencil and activated my prediction ability. As I heard the words "you may begin", I quickly opened my booklet.

The first subject was History:

Question 1: In the year ____, 'Abilities' started to bloom.

Answer: In the year 2XXX, 'Abilities' started to bloom.

The questions weren't hard as I zoomed through History with ease. I look around the classroom to find one kid caught cheating and the rest sweating from the pressure of getting the test done. With that, 30 minutes had passed.

The second subject was Math:

Question 5: y-k = a(x-h)2 is the equation for what shape?

Answer: A Parabola.

As I progressed, the problems got harder. I finish math and decided to rest my hand for a minute before continuing. As I rested, I could hear the legs of nervous students shaking, the clicking of pencils as students attempted to refill them with lead, and the tears of those who are afraid that they're not going to pass.

I avert my attention to my paper and continue with the next subject, Translating and Japanese:

Question 9: Translate the following to Japanese:

The sun sets in the background as the fireworks are lit up.

Answer:

花火が照らされるように、太陽が背景に置かれます。

Hanabi ga terasa reru yō ni, taiyō ga haikei ni oka remasu.

It's a good thing that I'm bilingual. I thought.
