The Bravest Man I've Ever Known (A Severus Snape Fanfic)

Chapter 6

Voldemort shouts it again, as if he wanted to hurt Harry with the words, "SNAPE IS DEAD! I KILLED HIM!" Harry continues to smirk, shaking his head, "He's not, Tom. Severus Snape reveal yourself. Let your mask fall for all to see. Show everyone your true colors and where your allegiance lie. I don't want anyone to hurt him, understood?" Snape's eyes glinted menacingly at Voldemort's direction, as he raises his wand and removes the Disillusionment Spell. Everyone gasps at the sudden appearance of Severus Snape. Snape walks forward and stands next to Harry, wand held at the ready. Harry looks back at Voldemort smirking, "I told you he lives, Tom." Voldemort's eyes grew wide at Snape's sudden appearance. Voldemort shouts, "But I killed him!" Harry said, "You thought you did, but Snape thought of a quick plan to prevent it. Did you really think, Severus here, would go down without a fight?" Voldemort's face contorted with fury, "Then I will kill him again!" Harry said, "You won't be able to. I did what my mother did for me. I sacrificed myself for everyone here. Your spells won't work on anyone in here. Now, Tom, listen and listen good, Severus here, has something to say to you." Everyone was still in shock at his sudden apperance, but were even more shocked to see the look of such hatred directed at Voldemort. Snape decided for once, not to occlude. Now it was time for Voldemort to see the truth. For everyone to see the truth.

Snape said, "Everything that Harry said... is true." Snape looks at everyone else, "Hear me when I say, that Harry speaks the truth. If the Order and the staff here wants proof. You all have permission to view all the memories that I have shown to Harry. I will put it all in a vial. Harry will be a witness to this, so that I do nothing that will make you all think otherwise." Snape looks back at Voldemort, not hiding how he truly felt for the man with the snake-like face and red eyes. Snape said coldly, "Harry isn't lying. He is telling the truth. I did all those things. I did it out of the one thing , that you will never understand, Voldemort! I did it out of love! Out of love for the one woman that truly made me happy! I did it for Lily!" He looks at everyone else again, "And here is the proof! For all to see! EXPECTO PATRONUM!" A silver doe burst from Snape's wand and lands on the floor. The doe looks at everyone with almond- shaped eyes, observing everyone. Everyone in the hall looks in awe at Snape's patronus. Everyone knew the story of Lily's patronus and knew full well that her patronus was indeed a doe. Voldemort looks on with a look of rage on his face. Voldemort hisses at Snape now, "You were the spy?! You were the one that thwarted my plans?!" Snape smirks coldly, "Yes, I told the Order what you were up to. I kept certain information from you. You're not the only Legilimens in this room, Voldemort. I protected Harry to the best of my abilities, depsite him using his father's cloak. I killed Dumbledore on his orders. When you returned to your body, I returned to you, only after Dumbledore has asked me to. I was prepared to do whatever Dumbledore asked of me. I fed you so many lies, Voldemort, and you were foolish enough to believe them. You were right about one thing, I am a clever man. More cleverer than you!"

Snape continues to glare at Voldemort as he spoke, "I gave Harry, the real sword, placing the fake one in Bella's vault. I had Phineas' portrait tell me where they were, so that I could give Harry the sword. Without him know it was me, of course. After I accidently cut off George's ear. I had meant to hit the deatheater, whose wand was pointed at Lupin's back. I knew Harry would not want to see me at that point in time. I begged Dumbledore to hide the Potters, after you interpreted the prophecy to mean them. He asked me what I would give in return. I told him, anything. I agreed to spy for Dumbledore. I joined the Order and told them all I knew. I got the teaching job to protect, Harry, since I knew he would be coming to Hogwarts, when he turned 11. Harry, was clever enough to get me to say that I was spying on you, for Dumbledore. I admit, Harry indeed has some Slytherin tendencies. Something I wish I saw sooner. I knew where the Orders met. After I killed Dumbledore, each member of the Order, was now a secret keeper, that includes me. So, of course I could have told you, but I didn't. You can torture me for as long as you wanted and I would never tell you of the Order's location. I'd rather go mad then tell you! I indeed went to where the Order went for their meetings, to look for a certain locket..." Voldemorts eyes widen as Snape spoke, "...but, the locket was gone. Mundungus took it and practically gave it away to that toad, Umbridge! I'm impressed with how Harry, managed to retrieve it. With help from his 2 friends of course. Once, Dumbledore knew what the trio did, He came up with a plan for me to give them the sword. A plan that worked. They destroyed the locket."

Snape shouts, "And now.... you will reap what you sowed!" His voice cracked as everyone saw the pain in his eyes, and in his face as he bellows "YOU KILLED LILY AND HER HUSBAND! YOU REMOVED THE ONLY HAPPINESS I HAD!" Snape had started to pant with rage, his eyes red, with angry tears threatening to fall, "I LOVED HER AND YOU KILLED HER! I COULD CARE LESS OF HER BLOOD STATUS! I HAVE NEVER UTTERED THAT WORD SINCE MY 5TH YEAR, AND I NEVER WILL!" A few angry tears fell from Snape's eyes. His face twisted with pain, anger and sorrow, "DID YOU REALLY THINK I WOULD STAY LOYAL, AFTER YOU KILLED HER! DID YOU?!" Snape stood there panting, attempting to control his breathing and his emotions once more. Harry stood there in shock and awe. As did everyone else. Voldemort was seething with rage. After Snape calmed down and controlled his breathing, he said, "You took my weakness for granted, and used my weakness to gain a new follower. I am loyal to Dumbledore and always will be! All those deaths you commited, will not be in vain! All the horcruxes are gone, Voldemort! You are now mortal and can die! I will finally be redeemed by everyone, but most of all, I will be redeemed by, Lily. There is still one last thing to say. I'll let Harry do the honors." Everyone was quiet as they listened to Snape. They saw his emotions go from anger, to anguish and to sandess as he spoke. He never, once tried to hide those emotions. They clearly saw the pain, the hurt, the hatred. They could hear it in his voice. Voldemort raises his wand at Snape and cried, "LEGILIMENS!" Harry watch as Snape falls on all fours, as Voldemort ruthlessly went through his memories. Snape grunting in an effort to keep himself from falling to the floor, as he relived every memory Voldemort saw. After a few minutes, Voldemort came out of Snape's memories, panting. Snape stood up, shaking, glaring daggers at Voldemort. Snape furiously wiped his angry tears away and said, "Now you know everything! Harry, finish him!" Snape stood back to allow Harry room, as Harry stood in front of Snape. Harry said, "And now it comes down to this, doesn't it, Tom?" Voldemort shouted, "You betrayed me! You will pay for ever betraying me, Severus Snape!" Harry said, "You will have to go through me first, Tom. I'm not going to let you kill him. This is between you and me, Tom. You and me."

Voldemort and Harry glared at one another, then Harry spoke, "Do you know why the Elder Wand isn't doing your bidding? I'll tell you why. The Elder Wand was never yours to begin with. You can never win its allegiance by using it or holding it. You win its allegiance by taking the wand against its will. You see, Draco Malfoy disarmed Dumbledore at the top of the Astronomy Tower. The wand changed its allegiance to him." Voldemort said, "I'll go after him, once I finish with you and Severus!" Harry shakes his head, smirking, "I already got to, Draco. At Malfoy's Manor, I took his wand against his will. That means, the Elder Wand changed its allegiance from Draco, to me. Severus was never the true owner of the Elder Wand. I am!" Voldemort raises his wand at the same time Harry did. Voldemort cried out, "AVADA KEDAVRA!" As Harry shouted, "EXPELLIARMUS!" The red and green light collided in the middle, as golden sparks bursts from the collision. Snape moved further back as he watched on in shock. Everyone watched as the Killing Curse rebounded and hit Voldemort. Watched as the Elder wand flew from Voldemort's hand. Watched as the wand flew through the air, catching the light coming from the rising sun, as the light streams into the Hall. Watched as Harry caught the wand. Watched as Voldemort met his fate, and fell to the ground, dead. Never to come back to harm another living person. Never to come back to strike fear into the hearts of witches and wizards of the wizarding world.
