Steven vision slowly came into the world, his mind half awake and his senses semi-alert. He could tell someone was talking. He didn't move to not entrude on their speech but started to listen it. A voice so high pitched, so joyful and energetic. Yet so-
"AND THEN IT BIT ME!"
Loud...
"Then Lapis gave me these little 'band-aids' to help heal injuries. It was useless since we are both gems but the thought was nice. She then went to but those 'donuts' you got for me since they were so nice. Then you saw her, and apparently..." she paused and then said, with a hint of annoyance in her tone
"you spent 5 hours with her and made me wait on the roof you clod" she grumbled. Steven couldn't take it. He burst into laughter while Peridot jumped in suprise
"S-Steven! How long were you awake?" he didn't respond as he imagined Peridot standing on the roof for five hours.
"Peridot! You kill me sometimes!" he chuckles, wiping a fake tear. He hugged Peridot tightly and gently whispered in her ear once he had stopped laughing "Sorry 'Dot" he grinned from ear to ear. Peridot's face flushed and quickly pushed him off her with a huff
"It would be so much easier if I could hate you!" she retorted. Steven laughed once more and fell down on the wooden floor. He feigned a dramatic expression, acting a damsel in distress
"Oh no!!! Im down!" he placed his hand over his forehead dramaticly and closed his eyes. Repressing his chuckles as he
waited for her response. However she hadn't said anything. Steven opened his eyes to see...
Peridot was grinning, ear to ear- sinister- almost.
"Bow to me you clod!"

Steven slept once more on the ground, Peridot had attacked him with pillows, papers and literally anything she could hold in her weak hands. It was finally quiet after the two-man war that had happened in the TV room. Despite feathers being stuck on his face he felt like he was about to drift off...
"Steven"
'Well, nevermind then' he sighed inwardly and opened his eyes. He immediately felt his smile widen when he saw Peridot in the same condition he was in: messy hair and feathers everywhere but they both grinned wide. They both spaced out but Peridot came back sooner
"Glad you're awake, I need something" she tugged on Steven's arm and pulled him on to his feet
"Sure, what do you need?"
"The most accurate body of knowledge on humans. Ever" Peridot said excitedly. Steven looked at her questioningly
"Why couldn't you just Search it up on your tablet?" Steven asked
"Some of it isn't entirely accurate, I refuse to believe 'Dinosaurs' are the previous ancestors of legs!" she shouted, clenching her fist in the air, yelling to the sky. Steven chuckled and took Peridots other hand whilst preoccupied.
"Sure, we can go get some books online" he dragged Peridot to her tablet and tapped along the icons. Peridot looked curiously at the pictures of books, 'Ooh" ing and 'Aahh'ing. It finally ended with a ping sound.
"Whats that?" she pointed at the picture of 5 books stacks against each other. Steven quickly explained what they were and she nodded thoughtfully. Steven wished for more explanation but none came through the green gem.
"Well okay then" Steven dropped the tablet on the table, walking downstairs for breakfast.
~~~
"Wow! Thanks!" Peridot smiled as she received the package, still smiling, she said "why did you give me a box?" Steven chuckled
"Sorry Jamie, she's not used to deliveries" he waved to Jamie as he walked off. Peridot looked at the box and stared at it blankly
"What do I do with this?" Steven laughed heartily before taking the box from her and opening it
Three days
three days ago had Peridot asked Steven to leave and let her do her research. Steven wasn't gone for more than three hours previously. Steven was getting worried so he planned to suprise Peridot with a picnic, talk about whats happening and maybe be able to open up a bit.
"Pearl, I'm goi-" he said aloud, before stopping, realizing how he was alone. The crystal gems had to go on a chase for the Homeworld gem's antics. He sighed and packed up, taking it and walking on top of the warp pad. Closing his eyes, he
wished thoughtfully for the gems to be safe. He knew it wouldn't reach them
but all he could do is hope.
"Peridot, I'm here!" Steven shouted, hoping for the high-pitched response of the green gem.
"I'm over here!" Peridot yelled, on top of the tractor she and and another Lapis shared. Lapis waved and gave a thumbs
up before continuing to read a magazine of some sort. Except something was wrong...
Lapis's hair was brown
