"Miss Jasmine"

I turn on my heels to face a guy who looks like a junior to me and smile at him.

"You know, my friends call me Jaz." I say once he had catched up to me.

The guy who approached me flushed profusely. "Jaz," he corrects himself.

I give him another bright smile. "There you go."

He shuffles his feet, looking pretty sheepish. "I wanted to give you this..." he handed me a small well-wrapped box.

I accept it and thank him.

"Psssst! JAZ!" I heard someone call.

I turn my head and see my friend waving at me. That's my cue to leave.

"Gotta scoot. Thanks!"

"I hope you like it," he calls out.

I wave at him good bye and then walk towards my friend, who is waiting for me. I consider the box I received and open it. Inside, I find a small carved wooden swan. It's nothing special but I can tell that it's hand made.

How adorable! That guy must have put a lot of effort into making this. I wonder how long he took to finish it. Anyway, it looks simple and it's beautiful and I absolutely love it.

While observing my gift I suddenly had a flashback.

Before, I was the black sheep. An ugly duckling. I thought I was hopeless, and I would never become a beautiful swan, although I never dreamed to be one. But he proved me wrong.
