(I'm sorry that the introduction is after the first chapter! I'm new to writing on Wattpad:) I'd like to thank Allison for the shout out on her page! She's a great advocate and has really taken her passion to spread the word of arthritis to a new level!)

"Who is this Jake guy?" She said the moment I opened my eyes.

"A guy... Named Jake."

"A cute guy named Jake?!" She asked. I felt like I was talking with Emily, not my mother.

"He's decent." I responded. "Wait how do you know about Jake?" I asked.

" You were sleeping and this boy named Jake kept texting you, so I looked at your phone." She responded.

"Mom! How would you like it if I read all of your messages?"

" I'd be okay with it if you were paying for my phone service, but I don't foresee that happening anytime soon. You know, I know Jakes mom jane pretty well, we met a few years ago at the Arthritis conference. She sent me an email about 15 minutes ago, asking if it was ok for you to date Jake."

"And you responded..." I said very engaged in this conversation.

"We both agree that it is okay for you two to date, just make smart decisions. I trust you." She responded holding my hands. She trusts me. That's good. It's not like I've had the chance do do anything bad in my lifetime.

I stared at the ceiling with a giddy smile on my face. I don't know how much time passed before there was a knock on the door.

"Are you ready to go down?" A nurse asked, entering and beginning to unplug me from some machines and plug me into others. I nodded. What else was I going to do?

"Here goes nothing. Love you mom." I said blowing her a kiss as I was floating out of the room.

"Love you too honey, and so does your father." She always says that. My dad is so busy he probably doesn't even know that I'm having a port installed. He's busy with work a lot.

"Now that were away from your mom," a nurse asked, I've been in this situation many times before,"Have you taken any illegal drugs or participated in sexual activities?"

"No and no." I responded, closing the window for any other questions on my social life that seizes to exist. Nurses must have some wild image of what I do when I'm out of the hospital, but in reality I sleep in my room that is so messy, I can hardly see the ground.

This is the happiest I have ever been going into surgery. The surgery is basic and predictable, no experimental crap, or if thens. Also after this I may be able to finally go on my first date ever. Even better, a first date with Jake.

Dreams don't exist in drug land. It's hard to explain how times pasts when your under, all I know is that I wake up. The last person I expected to see was hovering near my bed.The first person I see is my father.
