"I love you but it's a shame you don't exist."
Yes, that's the kind of emotion you'd want to ignite in a reader about your characters. Whatever book you might write, whatever storyline you might develop, you must have a someone at the centre of action and who that someone might be?
Your character/characters.
A character's thoughts, choices, actions, beliefs are all those elements that contribute towards making a remarkable story.
When you hear someone talk about the Fault in Our Stars, what's the first name that comes to your mind? There! You thought it yourself...Augustus Waters. That is just one example and I can quote millions. And this shows the worth of a character in a book.
After you are ready with your story line the next big step is developing your character. It is necessary to know your character like the back of your hand. Characters are the heart and soul of a story and a lot of times characters either make or break the stories.
Again, Character development depends on the genre of your book but firstly, I'll be mentioning about the generalised character sketch.
Each story will definitely have at least one Protagonist/ Main Character. Now, that you are ready with the story line, you know the basics about your character. This is the time for you to dig deeper.
Another thing I came across while I was researching for this update was the fact that not all characters are human. By this statement I mean that some of you might write stories that go beyond human interactions, for example Alice in the Wonderland has animals as the characters. I haven't researched on such characters as of now but if anyone of you wishes for me to put an update about that, let me know in the comments. I'll research and get you all the info you'll need to write about characters that are not human.
