(Later at midnight)

/Jada

My hospital room’s emptiness enveloped me in fear and anticipation. My stomach was churning like the waves before a storm.

“Alright Jada, your strong, independent, you can do this. One-two-three go!”I was pumped

I thought about standing up like in a dream. I pulled my leg with the weight of what seemed like 50 pounds off the bed teetering over the edge.

“Your fine you can do this. I drudged my other leg behind aimlessly. It must still be asleep.” I thought

A distant voice shouted “Hey, did you just hear footsteps.”

“Must be the security guard, stealth mode activate” my brain thought. I dove onto the bed like I was sliding to home base.

A gruff rugged voice replied “Your paranoid, the girl in there is in a sleep coma…have you been hitting the booze again?”

“Yeah, guess your right” the distant voice replied ending the sounds outside my door, his footsteps fading into the background

I moved back to my half standing position, but crumpled to the floor like a wet noodle,

“I will make it” I thought with determination

I willed both my legs to bounce upward and pushed with my hands forward (like a yoga bridge) and bounced up.

“Yes I’m standing! Ok, Jada now move forward.” My brain was surging with happiness

I half crawled half walked to the door. (like standing on ice) my hand reached out for the doorknob afraid of what was outside this room. Part of me wanted to leave and part of me didn’t.
