So that was how Grammy died: loss of blood.
“Why did she do it when she knew what would happen?” I asked softly.
“She was a suspicious lady and never believed that my father told the truth about where he was and what he was doing. But the last time it happened was when she helped with negotiations and she took it too far by reading for too long a period of time. My father has never forgiven himself.”
“It sure would be handy to have someone with a talent like that around, but I would never use them if I knew there was a side effect.” Alpha Scott sounded sure of himself.
“That’s where you are different from your father.”
“I never agreed with his methods and you know that.”
“Wait. Grandpa was responsible for that?” Anthony looked at his father with a shocked expression.
“Your Grandfather only thought of his own agenda. He wanted more and bigger than any other pack and never allowed anything to stand in his way. He did not care about anything other than his dreams of being the mightiest Alpha in the world. He made a lot of enemies along the way and we have been fending as best we could.”
“The fights between other packs?” I asked.
“Yes. Those happened because we could not negotiate peace.”
Mum turned around looking straight at me, without making eye contact. “That’s not why we are here today.”
“Yes, your right. Josh?” Dad turned looking at Josh again.
“The only way we would know what you are capable of is when you go through some training.”
“What? I can’t even walk fast without falling.”
A chuckle came from every one. Josh just smiled. “You might find that that has changed.”
“What kind of training? With who?”
“I am going to take you for your special training, as I know what to look for. Your battle training will be done with Anthony.”
Oh, no! I was going to spend more time with both of them.
“That will be awkward,” Anthony said sounding weary.
“Only until the mating process is done.”
I turned to look at him, frowning.
“That is why we would do training first, so that we can get to know each other first.” That smile he threw my way made me and my wolf go into a frenzy.
“But why do I need to fight?” I asked barely audible.
“You need to be able to fend for yourself.”
“But, why?”
“Are you always this slow or is this a new thing?” I glared at Paul, a growl escaping my chest.
“You are a special wolf with special powers and if word gets out…” The statement hung in the air.
“How long before she’ll be able to be in public again? She is losing a lot of school and that would not reflect well on her record,” Dad asked looking from Josh to me.
“Why can’t I go to school?” Yep, I sounded real slow today.
“Have you seen yourself in the mirror lately? You would send everyone running.” Ryan shook his head. He was right. Even my own mother was scared of me.
“It would take a few days for her eyes to stop glowing. In the mean time we could start with the training.”
“Sounds like a plan. Is the training done in wolf form?” I was wondering the same thing and was glad that Dad asked that question. I could not afford sound slow again.
“Both, but we will start in human form and then in wolf form. That way I’ll know what she can really do.” He took a step toward me while he was talking when a growl came from Anthony.
“You better finish the mating, because I don’t know how much of this I can stand.”
I looked at him with raised eyebrows.
“Yeah, right! A week ago you could not stand to be around me. What about Arianna?”
“I’ll just have to stay away from you until the process is done and you know Arianna is not my real mate. Are you sure she is your mate?” he asked looking at Josh now.
“I’m sure. I know this feels odd, but you’ll know when you meet your mate that this pull you feel towards Zee is not as strong as it will be.”
Anthony just nodded and stormed out of the house. That was weird, I know I’ve said it, but that was really weird.
“Right. When do we start?” I asked looking at Josh.
“After lunch. You two can talk and get to know each other first. We have more business to discus and I would like to be there for your first training,” Dad answered.
“That is our que to get out. You coming?” When Josh started walking towards me I felt the air around fill with sparks and had to concentrate real hard to not jump him right there.
