Nightmares haunted my dreams. Voices I couldn't place told me to run, to hide, but I couldn't figure out why.

"Tammy! Run!" It was a boy shouting. I had no clue who he was and yet I felt tears slipping down my face, "Don't look back no matter what you hear!" That was all he said before the night echoed with bloodcurdling screams. His screams.

"Hey wake up!" Eli's face was right in front of mine, "You had me worried. You were crying in your sleep and wouldn't wake up. I thought something had happened to you. Thank God you're okay."

"I wouldn't call my state okay," I murmured, "I'm hurt, scared, and everything I've ever known is gone. I think I am very far from okay." My body was coated in sweat as I tried to force myself to sit up.

"What did you dream about?" Eli sat at the edge of my bed, "That is if you want to talk about it." I opened my mouth to try to explain what happened, but I realised something before I did.

"Why... Why should I trust you?" I looked him straight in the eye, "Why are you helping me so much?" Eli looked back at me, but his gaze seemed to lose focus. He was thinking about something or someone else.

"Let's just say you remind me of someone. Someone I wish I could've been there for," Eli voice was full of regret as I became instantly curious.

"Okay then," I spoke, "Let's make a deal. I will tell you everything that happens with me, that you ask about, if you answer any question I have about you." He looked at me suspiciously for a second before sticking out his hand.

"Deal," He said as I stuck out my own,

"May this be the start of a grand adventure," I said loudly before falling back onto the bed in pain.

"You should really be more careful," Eli reminded me for like the one-hundredth time, "I mean you look like you were tied to a truck and dragged face first down a dirt road. That could just be how your face looks though."

"Hey," I reached up to slap him, but fell short when tortuous pain ran up my back, "You could be a bit nicer to the girl that feels like she's dying you know."

"I could," Eli laughed, "But this is so much more fun," Rolling my eyes, I tried to focus on anything, but the pain. Realising that was impossible I simply groaned.

"Please put me out of my misery," My voice shook, but I tried to ignore it.

"Why of course," Eli bowed at the foot of my bed, "Anything for the princess."

"What did you call me?" I hissed, already beginning to seethe.

"I noticed you didn't like me calling you by your name," He explain, "So I figured since you complain so much princess would be a good thing to call you."

"You're not serious, are you?" To which he only nodded, "It's been one day and I already hate you so much." He laughed, a sound that seemed to calm me more than it should.

"Well if you think you can get up now, I got you some clothes," He smiled and I glared at him. Slowly I pushed myself up out of the bed and slid my legs off. My bloody clothes had dried and were somehow more disgusting in their dried crusty state. Looking up I tried to ignore that fact as I picked up Eli's shopping bag off the floor and rushed into the bathroom.
