Panicked, my mind wouldn't function right. I was sleep-deprived, scared, and worried for Tamara. My eyes flicked back and forth as I tried to continue to drive, but my alertness was quickly leaving me. The only thing that kept me awake were the gruesome images that filled my mind. I had seen people die, I had seen my own sister die, but the one thing I knew was that I would never let Tamara die.

Pulling into a gas station, I sighed loudly. I wanted more than anything to continue looking for Tamara, but to that I needed some caffeine to do that. Stepping out of the car, I locked it behind me. My legs protested standing up and my vision spun. Clearly I wouldn't last long, but nothing would stop me from trying.

The bell as I opened the door made my head hurt. The startled teen at the counter clearly didn't expect someone to come in this late. Shuffling, I made my way over to the fridges. Opening it, I pulled out a cold espresso. Even though I didn't care much for coffee I needed something strong. Placing it on the counter, I paid quickly and left.

The parking lot was dark and eerie. Normally I wasn't afraid of the night, but I knew where I was, and I knew what happened around here. My car was too far away for comfort and my breathing felt too loud. I felt as if I was being watched, and knowing where I was that assumption was probably correct. Fumbling with my keys I tried to unlock my car door, but I was too tired to do something even that simple.

"I'm shocked to see you back here," My head shot up and I met familiar dangerous eye.

"Maeva," I spoke harshly trying to hide how weak and tired I was, "What do you want?" She laughed and I tried to stop my jaw from shaking. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't stop being afraid of her. She had hurt so many people and yet she didn't feel regret or sadness. She was pleased with the pain she had caused.

"You know why I'm here," Her voice was dramatic yet cold, "You know I couldn't just let her go. She betrayed all of us. She betrayed you. Why did you help her?"

"I helped her because she was dying!" I lost all composure I had when she mentioned betrayal, "You hardly know what the word betrayal means. She didn't betray you. She didn't know you! You didn't do anything for her so why should she do something for you?!" Maeva laughed knowing that she had broken my wall of defense.

"It's just so easily to get to you dear Eli," She touched my face like a caring mother would, but I knew better than that.

"She's not with me," I tried to keep my voice monotone, trying to hide any and all fear, "So leave me alone." I gritted my teeth and tried my hardest to not show my emotions.

"You are just what I need though," She smiled widely and yet she still filled me with fear, "You are perfect."

"Perfect for what?" I asked.

"Perfect bait for her," With that I heard an earsplitting noise, the noise of a gun. Pain filled my leg and I felt liquid dripping down it. Maeva laughed as I collapsed to the ground. My vision started to fade until my consciousness was gone.
