Raindrops patter against the window,

Accompanying my wonders, my worries.

Once I scoffed away the things I worried about.

Then you came.

The garden is full of life.

Dandelions mingle with the flowers,

Their yellow complementing the red, pink, and purple with its brazen hue.

I never really noticed flowers.

Then you came.

I push past energetic crowds.

Scents of metal and people fill the air.

All these odors are so foreign, nothing like your own.

I'm anxious to leave, to come home to you.

I used to be indifferent to where I walked.

Then you came.

Your lips give me comfort that nothing else can.

So warm, full of love,

They lock with and overcome mine.

I'm glad you aren't irritated

The way you often are.

I was never able to taste emotion.

Then you came.

Blackness fills the room,

But I feel your hand on my arm,

Smoothing up and down,

Up and down,

The pattern as rhythmic as the clock ticking amidst the heavy silence.

I can't sleep.

I was always able to sleep.

Then you came.

It's funny how such an ethereal being as you

Could call me perfect, obsess over me,

Own me.

The chains that cross my heart are yours.

What lies within isn't mine anymore.

I thought I didn't have a soul

That someone could steal from me.

Then you came.
