"No" Josh replied without hesitation.
"Okay" Tyler nodded, smiling widely at Josh "Were you ever in a relationship?"
"No" Josh answered simply.
Tyler still smiled, perhaps a bit wider "Do you have a crush on somebody?"
Josh shook his head.
Tyler sighed audibly, ending with a soft chuckle "Josh, did you ever have a crush?"
Josh tilted his head in thought, squinting his eyes a little "No, I don't think I have. I never really looked at girls in that way"
Tyler then cringed a little bit, lips still somewhat curled into a smile "Then how can you know what's your sexual preference at all?"
Josh clicked his tongue, shaking his head in disbelief "Because guys liking girls and vice versa is what's natural"
Tyler gasped loudly "Oh my God, Josh, I'm an alien!"
Josh groaned, while Tyler started to laugh his heart out "You're not an alien, aliens don't exist"
Tyler covered his mouth with his left palm, eyes wide open. He spoke through his palm, thus the words were almost unintelligible "C'mon, man, you can't tell me you don't believe in aliens"
"I don't" Josh confirmed "I believe in God"
Tyler snorted with a 'pft' sound. He leaned over to a drawer in a cupboard by his bed and took out two notebooks and a book.
"What are you doing?" Josh questioned, confused with how Tyler stopped asking him questions.
"Oh, didn't you come here to study?" Tyler asked sassily, batting his eyelashes.
"I did..." Josh gulped, pretty baffled at this point "B- But I thought we were starting on fixing you? You ask questions and then I do?"
"Ah!" Tyler smiled, playing a little stupid "You're right, I apologize. Go ahead. Ask me whatever you want"
Josh nodded, clearing his throat and watching Tyler as he put his books aside "Why do you think you don't like girls?"
Tyler shot Josh a death glare. Tyler was always were tolerant, but Josh was really getting on his nerves. Sighing, Tyler decided to warn one last time "Listen. I understand that you're homophobic. But you have to understand that I don't think I'm gay. I know I'm gay"
Josh bit the inside of his cheeks. This was going to be harder than he thought. This boy was far too brainwashed by all those hippy people who'd say "love isn't a choice" or whatever. Josh picked his next words wisely "What kind of clothes do you like to wear?"
Tyler frowned at the words, not really understanding why Josh was replying to his words with an unrelated question. But he didn't complain; he relaxed his face and answered with a shrug "Mostly black, why?"
"Hm" Josh rested his left elbow atop his knee (as he was sitting indian style). Tyler was an odd person. Claiming to be gay, but he likes basketball and he wears black. Gays don't do those things. Hippies don't wear black clothes. Josh was confused. But he had to continue with questions "What problem do you have with girls?"
Tyler exhaled through his mouth loudly "I mean, I have girl friends, so I don't have problems with them. I just don't find them as attractive as guys, I guess? I never really thought about it. I'm just gay, I just like guys"
"That means you never looked at girl in an interested way?"
"Yeah, I guess" Tyler squinted his eyes in thought before deciding to stand firmly behind his words, nodding, sitting straight up and grinning.
"So" Josh cleared his throat, smiling smugly "That's just like me. I never looked at girl and neither have you"
Tyler mouth fell slightly agape, blinking twice fast and shaking his head a little "No, no, no. You never looked at anyone. I'm crazy about boys"
Josh pushed himself backwards a bit, making Tyler laugh softly.
"Okay, then we'll do our first experiment!" Josh proposed, rising his right index finger. Tyler watched him curiously, awaiting the words that were going to follow. Thankful for the attention, Josh nodded and spoke "You'll stop looking at guys for a week and just focus on girls. I'll do the same-"
"Nah-ha" Tyler laughed, shaking his head "You're gonna look at boys"
Josh cringed, rising his shoulders slightly "But we're trying to get rid of your apparent homosexuality"
"No, honey" Tyler corrected "You're trying to get rid of my homosexuality. I'm here to defend it. Thus, I will do as proposed, but you'll have to do the opposite"
"But-"
"It'll be an experience, yeah?" Tyler rose an eyebrow "Nothing you can lose, really"
Josh gulped. Tyler tricked him. But Tyler was somewhat right. Now, Josh can always pretend to have been looking at guys and actually not do that. But his mother taught him to always play fair, thus that was what he wad going to do.
"Okay, deal" Josh nodded, putting his hand out for Tyler to shake it. Tyler laughed at the formality, but shook Josh's hand. When they both let go, Tyler sighed deeply, looking over at his books. Josh took his own books into his lap and asked one last question before they both dive into homework "We'll meet up again next week, to see each other's 'results', yeah?"
"Sure, whatever you say, big guy" Tyler smirked.
