Chapter 4

I made sure I was far away from anyone as I continued my search for necessities. Grayson made sure to start making friends out of this group but that wasn't who I was, even before the outbreak. I always had been a loner when it came to high school along with college and any job I ever had.

Sometimes I couldn't help but question if Grayson was really my brother, let alone my twin brother. We are so different, more different than the perfect stranger. Not that I minded much, it was nice to have such a goofball as a little brother, even if it was only by ten minutes. I couldn't help but look back at him, making conversation with Rick as he kept a watch over everyone including me. It was like I was already apart of this group and I wasn't a fan. How I never noticed that Redneck was riding a damn motorcycle when the found us went over my head.

Slowly I made my way back to my car, all eyes were on me as I did so. While everyone seemed okay with Grayson. I was a different story. He was trustworthy, I am not to these people. I could say the same about all of them, the only two I could possibly trust was the damn children. They both seemed to be sheltered and wouldn't be able to defend themselves if shit hit the fan.

As I opened up the hood I heard quiet whispers all around me followed by moans of the undead. I spun around on my heels ready to face a few walkers but I was taken by surprise by the number of them. Before I could process it all I felt arms grab me and push me under the car. I looked up and met blue eyes of the redneck, his cloudy blue eyes showing something I just couldn't place. I half expected my skin to crawl at his unrelenting stare but all I could feel was my heart beating against my chest as it fluttered.

All he did was raise a single finger to his lips. I wanted to ask him why he was so concerned about me in that moment, why not anyone else? I opened my mouth to ask but nothing come out, with my silence he went off in the other direction to probably find a spot of his own to hide. I couldn't help but close my eyes waiting for them all to pass but this just gave me more time to question Daryl's actions towards me. Or maybe I was just reading too much into the whole thing.
