Short chapter update, but the writing distracts me from everything happening right now, so new updates will follow soon
Jonghyun, you did well <3
----–---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Jungkook's POV]
I did not expect that. My face can't hide my surprise as I'm shook. He slightly chuckles when he sees my expression. 'Wh..at?' I bring out. 'How?''Well, you know the money my parents, my biological parents, left me to ensure my good education? It's enough for one person to finish the private school we're currently going to. Mom can't pay for us both to keep going there, so she expected me to keep going whilst Namjoon would have to go to your school, but I can't do that to him.'
His eyes are determined. Most definitely he has thought this story through.
'Namjoon is so freaking smart, he deserves the good education he's now getting, so that he can put his knowledge to good use. As for me... I never really belonged there, I was the odd one out; the alien. Namjoon belongs there, so he can keep going there whilst I'll go to your school.
Without realising, tears now have also formed in my eyes. That is literally one of the nicest things I've ever heard someone do for anyone. 'You're sure about this?' I ask him, not wanting to sound doubtful, but rather still amazed by his decision.
'Yes, I'm sure my parents would rather have me happy than at some fancy ass school where I don't belong. And it would definitely make me happy knowing that Namjoon gets the opportunities he deserves. As for me, I would love to finally find a place where I do belong.' The corner of his mouth slightly lifts, which ensures me that he knows what he's doing.
'That's amazing Taehyung, I'm sure you'll feel welcome at my school! I can show you around and join you for lunch and stuff!' I chuckle, feeling suddenly a lot happier than 2 minutes ago, realising that I'll probably be able to see him every day from now on.
'That'd be nice, Kookie,' Taehyung smiles, and I can't help the fluttering feeling of excitement that help my cheeks turn a flash of light pink.
'So what are you actually studying now?' He asks me after a few moments of silence, clearly wanting to change topic, which I can understand. This was enough emotions for one night.
'I'm supposed to learn about symbols, metaphors and... stuff,' I chuckle, realizing how screwed I am for the next test. 'As you could hear, Namjoon tried to explain the differences, but to me they all just sound similar...'
Taehyung lifts himself from the couch and takes the book from the desk and sits himself down on the couch again, next to me.
'Well this is not that difficult, wait until your next year, where you'll have to be able to distinguish a lot more types of figures of speech,' he grins as I sight of frustration leaves my mouth.
'Even more? Can't they just stop at like... 2 different kinds? Isn't that enough vague language for a book or poem? Why can't writers just write what they actually mean without using vague language?!' I exclaim, throwing my head back to the side of the couch, hands in my hair.
'Have you tried our technique for this?' He asks. I can't help but notice he uses the words 'our technique', and I silently shake my head, wondering if my cheeks can get any redder. Luckily there is the excuse of us sitting close to the fire which spreads heat through the whole room, but otherwise there is no way that I could pass for this.
'Well then, let's get started!' He excitedly exclaims, and he takes his phone from his back pocket and searches through his Spotify list until he finds a song.
2 U by Justin Bieber starts playing, how does he even know I like this song? We listen to it, just like last time, where Taehyung closes his eyes and focuses on every beat from the song, fully absorbing every single note, which is the most entrancing thing there is.
The final note passes, and Taehyung grabs my book and we start making up the lyrics to it, filled with metaphors, similes and personification.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'... and synecdoche is part of a whole, end.' We shout together. It's just like last time. I now nailed all the symbolism in just a mere 20 minutes, contradicting the hour I'd already spend with Namjoon on this.
Wait, Namjoon.
Taehyung is still excitingly dancing along to the song, shouting out our self-made lyrics to it with his deep voice, but only now I suddenly notice Namjoon's long absent. I look around the room, seeing if he'd already returned without our notice, when my eyes catch something in the door opening.
Namjoon is holding what seems to be a cup of tea, and is looking directly at us.
'Namjoon hyung!' I exclaim in surprise, and he seems to be awaken from thoughts and our eyes meet. Suddenly Taehyung also stops his performance (whilst he tries to keep his balance standing on the couch, hands in the air), as we now both look in Namjoon's direction.
'I'm sorry,' he begins.' I shouldn't have disturbed you,' and he turns around to make his way out of the room.
'Wait!' I shout after him, and his pace slows down. 'We can continue our lesson now,' I tell him with an uncertain voice, guilt rising in me. He seems to be totally out of it somehow. His pace slightly trembles as he steps back into the study room.
He takes a deep sigh. 'Does it really have any use?'
I did not expect those words. He looks so defeated as he continues.
'I saw what you guys did these last couple of minutes, and it seems to me that this is a much better way for you to study than anything you've ever done with me. Now you can actually remember what is being said at least.' He slightly chuckles, looking at the ground.
'If Taehyung and you are okay with it, I think it would be better for you if he would continue to tutor you. That way you'll probably ace all your tests if you keep up learning this quickly as you just did.'
Again, I did not expect this. My eyes meet Taehyung's, not being able to hide my hopes of him saying yes as I throw an almost begging look at him. His teeth become visible as he gives me a Taehyung-smile and nods. 'I'd love to!'
'Are you truly okay with that? I still really appreciate everything you've done for me.' I quickly tell Namjoon, not wanting him to feel useless.
'Of course, I'm happy if you get good grades and my way clearly doesn't help you, so as long as you learn your material, I'm okay.'
He throws me a reassuring smile, and I can't stop myself from walking over to him and throwing my arms around him. I can feel him slightly stiffen for half a second because of the unexpected nature of the hug, but then he replies my hug.
'Thank you, hyung.' I can feel him nod on my shoulder, and he grabs my shoulder in a fatherly way. 'Good luck studying, Jungkook.' And then he walks out of the room, leaving me and Taehyung to continue our crazy performances called 'studying.'
