It is difficult to be angry with Haementeria laetus, despite its rather terrible nature. The creature has practically no intelligence, and just attaches to any nearby living flesh in an attempt to drain that creature's blood.
Removing Haementeria requires precision bladework, or access to an open flame. Both of these can be nearly as dangerous to the host as to the leech itself.
Once Haementeria attaches to a host, it drains blood at a rapid pace, and the host experiences hunger, loss of health, and lowered stamina. Some Haementeria are also carriers for a dangerous disease I've dubbed "Swamp Fever," which persists beyond the leech's own lifespan. Few creatures on the Island are transmitters for this disease, and it can ultimately be cured with a rare medicine.
Domesticated
While Haementeria is not intelligent enough to be tamed, it is always useful to keep a few around for antidotes and fishing lures. When processed properly, Haementeria venom can be made into a powerful antivenom!

Es difícil enojarse con Haementeria laetus, a pesar de su naturaleza bastante terrible. La criatura prácticamente no tiene inteligencia, y simplemente se adhiere a cualquier carne viva cercana en un intento de drenar la sangre de esa criatura.
Para eliminar una Haementeria se requiere de una hoja de precisión o acceso a una llama abierta. Ambos pueden ser casi tan peligrosos tanto para el anfitrión como para la sanguijuela misma.
Una vez que Haementeria se une a un huésped, agota la sangre a un ritmo rápido, y el anfitrión experimentará hambre, pérdida de salud y menor resistencia. Algunas Haementeria también son portadoras de una enfermedad peligrosa que he denominado "Fiebre de Pantano", que persiste más allá de la vida de la sanguijuela. Pocas criaturas en la isla son transmisoras de esta enfermedad, y finalmente puede curarse con un medicamento raro.
Domesticado
Mientras que Haementeria no es lo suficientemente inteligente como para ser domesticada, siempre es útil mantener algunas alrededor para usar su sangre en antídotos o como señuelos de pesca. ¡Cuando se procesa adecuadamente, el veneno de Haementeria se puede convertir en un potente antídoto!
