I rushed over to him.
"No. Jack, please don't leave me! Y-you were my very first friend I made her. P-please!"
He smiled.
"Listen. S, I need you to just do one thing for me. Please."
"Anything. Anything. Just p-please don't leave!"
He whispered something in my ear.
"Stay strong for me. P-please."
His voice was cracking.
"I will. I'll do what you said. J-just please don't go!"
"It was amazing knowing you. All the fun we had. The scares. The excitement. We've done it all together. F-from the moment I saw you on that dock, lost and alone, I k-knew you were going to do amazing things. And now look. Look a-at where you are."
"Look at where I started..."
"E-exactly. The fact that you're alive is a miracle... J-just stay like that."
"Jack..." I breathed. He was getting paler by the second. He whispered one last thing.
"That would be enough."
And just like that, he was taken away.
My sob echoed across the small forest.
I'll make you proud, Jack.
I'll hunt him down.
I'll do what you said.
And I'll be enough.
