Chapter 40- Nice Try

_____Raymond's Pov______

My father's will was finally coming into fruition. In a matter of months, I would be able to officially claim the legacy that he had left behind and be the most powerful man in the world. It was all coming along perfectly and nothing would get in my way this time. I was busy reading the encrypted documents my father had left behind when my wife decided to interrupt my focus.

"Hi, honey." she said as she entered my study and I muttered a quick response to her.

She pecked me on the lips and sat on my lap. I continued typing on my computer, still not taking her on.

After a few moments, I finally spoke to her as I released a weary sigh.

"Yes love, how may I help you?" I asked my beautiful wife.

"I was wondering if we could go out? It's been so long since we've left the castle. I would love to go to the city to do some shopping and show Ariel places." I said to him smiling and hoping he would agree with my proposal.

Was she being serious right now? Why on Earth does she want to leave the castle now? I need to keep a low profile as I need my father's will to be completed. I decided to talk some sense into her instead. I stopped my typing and put my hands on her thigh and watched her intently.

"You almost died giving birth to our daughter and she too had to fight for her life. I just don't think we should take risks by bringing her out in the open as yet." I said.

However, she did not like my response and looked at me puzzled.

"Raymond, Ariel is the most bubbly and energetic baby there is. She's already four months old and the only place she has ever been is this castle. How do you expect her body to build antibodies from diseases and the cold if she doesn't go out?" she asked me as she began to get upset.

My mood was totally ruined now. Kyra was really getting on my nerves today. Not wanting to continue this conversation, I pushed her off of me and she looked at me a bit startled.

"Did I say something wrong?" her eyes were opened wide and she looked as if she was at the verge of tears.

As much as I wanted to have compassion for her, I had to make it known that she is under no circumstance allowed to leave the castle with my baby until I say she can.

"So, you think I will just allow you to leave the castle?" I raised my voice at her as my rage began building, "You are at home! You have no business in the outside world!"

I stood up and began walked towards her but she began to cower in fear and started to tremble as she took retreating steps from me.

"What did I say that was so wrong?" she asked sounding confused and scared.

I had to make it known to her that she could not mess with me and before I could stop myself, I grabbed her shoulders fiercely and began shaking her roughly.

There was a spark of fire in her and she broke her hold from me.

"Why can't I go out with my baby?" she asked upset and threw her hands up in the air with  frustration.

She just doesn't get it. Why on Earth does she always have to be so stubborn? Even with her memory gone, she still manages to be just as adamant as before.

"It is still snowing! Ariel will have enough time to play in the snow when she is older and she'll see cities at some point in her life!" I shouted at her and anger was clearly written all over my face.
