Chapter 22

The next day, the six friends, Pegasus, and Jack Dark woke up early in the morning and got ready.

When they all gathered in the hall while Hazelia gave each of them a sachet containing some Repel Beads, Manny talked to them for a while.

" With this journey, you may need to work as a team... no matter if you hate each other or not," he paused, glancing at Pegasus, Jack Dark, and Hazelia. The three looked down at the ground. " And I need to warn you that you may also need to defend yourselves as a group. No one will be left out. It will only be a matter of time before a threat is gonna approach, according to Pegasus. So you also need to be quick. We don't know what is this threat yet... but the ghosts are one bad sign of it. Okay, farewell." he finished.

They all took a deep breath before turning around to walked out of the academy. As they took a step, Manny stopped Pegasus and Hazelia. " I want you girls to be on good terms with Jack Dark... I can see it in his eyes, he's not how he looks. There's a brightness under that dark look of his," he bent down and whispered to them.

Pegasus was about to protest but Hazelia cut her off.

" We'll try," she whispered.

Manny nodded and stood up straight again before smiling at them. The two girls squeezed each other's hands and followed behind the others as they began their new adventure.

" Okay, so, where is your palace?" Y/N asked Jack Dark.

He chuckled in return.

" For a princess, you really don't know a lot, do you?" he asked.

Y/N glared at him playfully.

" Hey, I'm still new... you can't blame me for knowing nothing. There's too many things I don't know in this realm," she said.

" Yeah, I forgot. By the way, you know how to use a sword?" he asked again.

" Yep," she answered simply.

" A very unique princess I see," he stated.

" I'm not really princess material... truly. I hate dresses (sorry if you love them). I hate high heels (sorry if you love this too). And don't get me started with all that standing straight and all," she said.

" Oh, you're a princess, Princess," he replied.

" No, I'm... wait, don't call me Princess," she warned.

" Sure thing, Princess," he retorted.

" Hey! I'm right here! Stop flirting around!" Jack suddenly exclaimed from beside Y/N.

He's been silent for a long while.

" Looks like someone is filled with jealousy..." Hazelia's voice came from behind them.

" I-I'm not jealous," Jack defended himself.

" Yeah, right," Hazelia replied sarcastically.

" I'm not," Jack repeated.

" Sure thing, Frost." she said and walked past the three so she's at the front.

" Hey! I'm the one supposed to lead the way," Jack Dark said.

She didn't reply... being afraid that if she open her mouth it will lead back to bickering, so she kept her mouth shut and moved to the back of the group, beside Merida. She needed to stick to her words as she sort of promised to Manny to not start up an argument.

" Do you think she's still mad at me?" Jack Dark whispered to Jack who's playing with his staff.

" I don't know... she doesn't look mad. But, maybe she's tryna cool down," Jack answered.

" Yeah... and it's funny to think that you're jealous," Y/N chimed in to cheer up the conversation.

Jack looked away from them.

" I'm not," he said.

" Aww... you are. And it's kinda cute." Y/N realized what she said and quickly covered her mouth as the two of them blushed.

" I see where this is going..." Jack Dark trailed and smirked.

" Oh, shut up," Y/N and Jack said in unison.

Then they ventured further into the journey.

When they all came upon a tall and big and dark palace, Jack Dark walked forward and ordered the guards to open the grand double-doors. Pegasus stopped abruptly in her tracks. The others all turned to her when she doesn't move an inch from where she stood.

" You guys go. I'll stay here." she said and gestured for them to go on.

" But Manny asked us to work in a team," Y/N said.

" No one's left behind," Hazelia added in a low voice since she's the nearest to Pegasus.

" But I—" Pegasus began but Hazelia interrupted.

" Remember what your dad said." she whispered and took Pegasus's hand.

Pegasus hesitated before she let Hazelia lead her forward.

" Mom! We've got guests!" Jack Dark called out and walked into a room.

Pegasus gasped.

" This is why I don't want to go in," she whispered to herself.

" It's yer mother, Pegasus," Merida said as she heard what Pegasus said.

" But... I'm not ready to see her again," Pegasus replied.

" Then ye will have to be ready now. She's yer only mother... even if she used to be evil. Can't ye forgive yer own mother?" Merida asked.

" I... I don't know. She's... she's heartbreaking to think of, like my stepbrother too," Pegasus said.

" You don't wanna lose her, lass. Trust me, I've cursed me mother before."

" Well, they're your family. I want you to have your family back," Rapunzel chimed in, apparently hearing their conversation.

" It's for the best," Hiccup added beside her.

Pegasus looked in front and saw Y/N, Jack, and Hazelia staring at her with smiles plastered on their faces.

She then turned to everyone one by one and gave a small smile of her own.

" I'll try." she said and glanced at Hazelia.

Hazelia nodded at her.

" I think you really should get back with your family." Hazelia said to Pegasus as they walk side by side.

" Yeah? And here I thought you hate my stepbrother," Pegasus replied.

" I... I don't... ugh, that's another different story. What is important is your story now." Hazelia answered and they finally came to the door of the room Jack Dark entered earlier.

Hazelia turned to her best friend.

" You ready to meet your mother?" she asked, placing a hand on Pegasus's shoulder.

Pegasus took a deep breath.

" Ready as I'll ever be." she said and Y/N pushed open the door and stepped inside before giving out a gasp of shock.
