I said, "I'm just tired." For the third time noticing the irritation growing in his eyes.
He looked down for a second then back to me and tilted his head. "Why do you think you can just lie to me?"
He now looked further frustrated at the full realization that I had lied. I felt shame, intense shame, maybe it was time to shut him out too? I couldn't keep lying now that he'd figured me out. But I'd grown so attached, he was rather important to me now. Then again, silly me believing he would stay now that he knew so much anyway. Silly me thinking he actually cared. Silly me letting him use me. Silly me letting him ruin me.
