We walk out of the kitchen and into the hallway. I feel numb all over. I am escaping! I think, and Haden is here, I didn’t think I would ever see him again. That is the only thing running through my mind.
We walk down the hallway, and I hear footsteps behind me. I glance back, worried, but see it is a girl our age with brownish hair and blue eyes. I want to be worried, but am not. I am not going to worry. I am going to escape.
We are a few feet from the front door when it opens. There, standing in the doorway, is a girl that can’t be much older than us with shoulder length light brown hair. Haden stumbles, then stops.
Suddenly Haden’s hand is ripped from mine. Before I have time to look, I fall, and everything goes black.
