"Will you mark me now that we are back on your pack territory?" My eyes shot up at the question. The sudden movement of my head made her flinch back. Two days at my house had barely done anything to ease her fear of me it seemed.

"I won't force you to take my mark, but I do want to mark you." And when I said want, I meant really want. Thomas reassured me that even interspecies mates were tied by the bond he'd heard of a recent case where a bat-shifter and wolf-shifter couple had been made, and even human-shifter couples could have a bond, though the humans were mostly oblivious to the reason behind their attraction.

Lina seemed to relax at my words and made no further attempt at conversation so I turned back to the stacks of paper before me. She'd taken to joining me in my study while I worked and I fancied it was because she wanted to be close to me, though in the back of my head I knew it was probably because there was little else to do in my house.
