Chapter three- Mary-Lynnette's warning

Javena's POV

"Jave! Jave! Jave!"

I ducked a head punch, panting hard.

"Jave! Jave! Jave!"

I blocked a roundhouse kick, dropping low to jab him in the stomach, making my opponent groan in agony.

"Jave! Jave! JAVE!"

I slipped an incoming hook, throwing an uppercut. Before my fist could make contact with my opponent's head, a whistle interrupted me.

FWEEEEEET!!!

Coach Fredrick had whistled. "Alright, the practice is over! See you guys tomorrow!" He shouted loudly. I groan. I was hoping I could take this opponent down before the practice was over.

"Good work, Javena." Someone called, I look up and realize my opponent was talking to me.

"Yeah, ya too, dude." I offered a fist bump, waiting for him to bump me back. He nods his head and bumped his fist back.

"Tomorrow?" He said.

"Tomorrow." I nodded, walking away to gather my things.

"JAVE! JAVE! JAVE!"

This yelling is getting very annoying, I swear if he won't stop for at least one second-

"JAVE! JAVE! JAVE!!!"

-I swear I would punch his face. Ah, I thought too soon.

"WHAT?!" I snapped, turning around. Brendan, my childhood best friend was running toward me, his long shaggy brown hair that always rests by his eyebrows was bouncing on his head, making him look like a fool.

"Jave! Guess what!" Brendan said when he finally stopped in front of me, panting.

"You know I hate playing guessing game and all the yelling nonsense. It's really annoying." I growled at him.

Brendan laughed nervously. "Sorry, I got overexcited." He smiled sheepishly.

"Overexcited? Overexcited?!" I started to yell at his face, earning myself weird looks from people around me," Overexcited my ass!" I snorted loudly.

Brendan winced, "Well, you don't know why I got overexcited."

"With Rose?" Rose was Brendan's crush since grade school. Well, I don't blame him, Rose is prettiest girl in my class. She's got looks and body like a supermodel.

Brendan nodded, wincing a little bit, waiting for my reaction.

"Of course." I muttered, "So, you got overexcited with Rose, eh?"

Brendan finally understood what I meant, "Hey!" He yelled, frowning, but I could see his deep brown eyes twinkling with amusement.

I burst into laughter, "I'm sorry, I couldn't resist." I grinned.

Brendan rolled his eyes, "I should have known." He said under his breath, earning him another laugh from me, "So, when will you stop being a masochist so I can tell you what happened?"

I grinned, "Don't let my pleasure stop you. Please do continue, Brendan."

Brendan rolled his eyes and smiled, "So, today, Rose needed a ride to her home after school. Naturally, being very devoted to Rose, I offered her a ride. Um, when school is over, Rose was waiting for me by my car... We got in and I started to drive the way to her home. We talked about prom... and I asked her to be my date for prom." He said the last part quietly, worrying how would I react. He tend to over worry a lot about my reactions!
