"Flight 41A to Orlando, Florida is now starting to board. Please make your way to the gate and present your passports with your boarding pass. Thank you."

"YOU'RE WELCOME!" Jack yelled loudly at no one in particular and earned a stinging death glare from each person in our party. He chuckled softly in embarrassment and shuffled in his seat.

Usually, the rest of us would probably be laughing out loud at his adorable, childish behavior, and possibly even join him, but not at this early hour of the day. It was currently six in the morning and we were struggling to keep our eyes open.

Another week had passed since we bought the flights for Florida. Which also means it's been a whole month since we last saw Brielle. A whole month since the last time we were all in this very airport.

We had to wake up at about three or four in the morning so we could get ready, check-in, and make our way to our gate without having to worry about rushing and the possibility of being late. That's why we were exhausted.

We started gathering our stuff as the priority passengers started piling onto the plane. As the line grew, the announcements continued.

Finally, we made it onto the plane. There were rows of three seats lining the sides of the plane, with a bathroom behind all the seats and a single pillow resting on each seat.

We checked the seat numbers on our tickets and realized that Katlyn would be the one being separated from Mark, Jack, and I. Katlyn pouted in frustration, obviously upset about not being able to sit next to Jack.

"Why can't we switch? I'll go sit in the window seat or the middle even!" Katlyn pleaded, causing us to hold up the line and the rest of the tired passengers to glare in annoyance. The scene she was causing was irritating me, but I knew I couldn't be the one to scold her, my attitude would flame up and I would cause the scene to worsen.

Thankfully, Mark stepped up and decided to be the peaceful one to smooth out this little bump in our road.

"Katlyn, you're causing a scene and it's holding up the line. Let's just all sit in our seats, relax, and enjoy this already stressful trip. It's only a few hours anyways." As much as we could all see she wanted to disagree, Katlyn reluctantly tossed her luggage into the overhead bins and slumped down into her seat.

As I thanked the universe for blessing us with Mark and his peaceful ways, he, Jack, and I packed our luggage into the overhead compartment and scooted in our rows of seats. Jack had the view of the world from his window seat, Mark had the pleasure of not having to squeeze by our legs in the aisle seat, and I got stuck in the middle seat. I groaned as I shoved my backpack under the seat in front of me.

Every passenger took their seat and the flight attendants started with their routine safety presentation. My focus on the presentation was interrupted by a light jerk and movement from the plane below me.

I looked out the window and my eyes grew wide. The scene in front of me went from still and calm to moving forward, creating panic in my stomach. I jerked back into my seat and my breathing was shaking my body like an earthquake.

Every time I breathed out, it sounded like I was breathing through a bullhorn. I squeezed my eyes shut and tried to hold in my panic.

That was when I felt a hand rest on my shoulder. I opened my eyes to see Jack staring at me worriedly.

"Hey, you okay?" I nodded furiously but it eventually dissolved into a super sad and slow disagreeing nod. He chuckled quietly and my face drooped in embarrassment. He cleared his throat and lowered his face to meet my eye-line and asked me again. I fidgeted as I started explaining.
